Hi all. I've just recently got my learners and a bike. I've wanted one for a long time (driving for over 10 years now) but have always been too scared! The spur for me was work and needing a 2nd vehicle so the wife and I didn't have to share a car. It would be fair to say I'm a cautious rider but I didn't think I would love riding as much as I do. I thought it'd be a handy mode of transport and nothing more. WOW was I wrong!

Any way, I don't know anyone with a bike and so am looking for people that may be keen to ride at weekends. The Wednesday night ride looks amazing and I'm keen to head along but with living out in Sumner getting home before 10 from a couple of the places visited recently could be a stretch and I don't want to be rushed just yet.

On the off chance someone sees this today, I'd be keen for a ride today, else let me know when and where for next weekend.

Looks like a really great community on here and I look forward to meeting a lot of you over the coming weeks, months and years.

James

Forgive me for being entirely sensible for a change...and suggest you get along to a couple of training classes for beginners or returning riders, you'll find riders of a similar ability to team up with for social rides.

Oh, and if you think this site is a great community...you'd be right, accepting that some of us should be locked up or at the very least on medication

So that's what they mean by a "gated community".

Welcome aboard

Keep an eye on the wed night ride thread, it's a good way to put some faces to names and they're not all as long as the ones recently, this week is sounding like over the hill so plenty doable before the learners witching hour. If you see a scruffy bugger on a black ducati come and introduce yourself.

If you're keen for a trip away and a maybe a few beers watch the rally threads too, then you'll find out what we're really like.....

Welcome to KiwiBiker! :sunny:

Like neels said, there is a weekly Kiwibiker's Wednesday Night Ride here in Christchurch. Meeting at Moorhouse Ave Burger King car park at around 6:00pm for 6:30pm departure. We are all sensible riders always keen on helping each other out. Even if you can't join us for the ride, just pop by and say hi!

Just kidding, we eat L plate riders for breakfast.
