I'm sure most of you will be on it like a rash picking holes in it, but regardless, pretty awesome tech.

They've moved on from the first prototypes: legend says that Swedes originally threw both a bicycle helmet and a woolly hat from a building rooftop. Since the helmet shattered and the woolly hat survived unmarked, the latter was declared the safer one...

That would create a lot of unwanted attention over here from the NZ Police, who would (rightly) think you're not wearing a lid.

That's pretty cool, although bet it costs heaps to recharge, if you can.

I'm sure there is industry testing it would have to pass before it was legal here.

I assumed you'd bin it like a normal helmet. If they're clever they'll make a fashion thing out of it where they're not outrageously expensive and people have multiples to match their outfits anyway.

The average NZer probably rides in more varied terrain than what it is designed for (having a crack at scalping yourself on a tree for instance probably wouldn't be an uncommon possibility on some bike routes to work), but for just fanging around the city and what have you it looks awesome, and easier to store than a helmet.

I wonder on a professional level if these would be more of a help or a hindrance with wind resistance and the like.

But it's not invisible...they just moved it from your head to your shoulders. Ride around in a Tshirt and shorts on a hot summer day and it's going to look a little obvious, and probably be a bit sweaty as well. Might as well put a hat over your bike helmet.

Way to make a cheap, super simple piece of equipment into an overcomplicated, expensive piece of techno-wank. "But I'm too pretty to be seen in a bike helmet..." bah humbug grump.

You're only looking at one aspect of it there though, unless you're telling me people rock around with helmets that protect their neck and lower back of their heads, as well as ears and side of their face everyday with ease.

Maybe you're telling us you wear something like this? =P
