View Full Version : Got married, selling my '05 CB900 Hornet

End of an era! Selling because it frightens my wife. This bike has mostly been used as a commuter, although I've put a few decent tours on it and plenty of day trips. Never had any problems at all! 68,601km on the clock. Keys are chipped, I have two.

It's warranted until February '14, and the registration expires on the 12th Jan.

Recently serviced (~600km ago) and got a new battery and two new tyres (Shinko 005 Advance). Also has a pack rack (you can have my pack), crash bungs and Oxford HotGrips (just replaced the controller). Bike is fully stock except the front indicators, which I was told are from a CBR600.

Condition is generally good with about as much wear and tear (scratches, chips, rust spots etc.) as you'd expect on a bike of this age. The only notable defect is a broken hazard light switch (bought it that way years ago and never bothered to get it fixed).

Bike is in Paraparaumu, to arrange a viewing contact me here, or on luke.gee@gmail.com, or on 021 847 277.

Good luck with the sale. Too bad wife didn't know you had a bike before you got married.

Are you downsizing to a smaller bike or throwing in the towel altogether?

throwing in the towel altogether?

I vote divorce. Mind you, might be able to get an annulment it was recent?

I understand how it is. I got told to buy a bigger more sensible bike with a more comfortable seat and the added features like traction control and abs. Then I got asked to ensure we had room for luggage if needed. We all make sacrifices when we get married.

That would be a lot less trouble in the long run

Yep, shame it's taken this long to figure out she doesn't respect what makes you happy.

Thanks! We actually met because of a crash I had on my learner bike years ago :sweatdrop

Altogether, I'm afraid... for now. I'll be back eventually!

I vote divorce. Mind you, might be able to get an annulment it was recent?
April! I spent seven years getting that far though, unlikely to quit at this stage

I too see a Goldwing in my future

But... I am scared of her mother

I nearly made the same mistake with my first wife.
Did you make her sell her bike? :killingme

Be serious; no-one on KB would buy a wife that isn't into bikes

she doesn't respect what makes you happy.
Oh, she knows what makes me happy  Wouldn't be right to ignore how she feels though.

No need to jacket off anymore :killingme

Goes both ways. My first wife was like that.

My current girl tells me to go riding.

Think about this for a minute. I'm sure you will get more rides out of the bike than you would the wife, and it will require far less maintenance. $1 reserve if you have to.

FFS (For Fucks Sake) YSC (You Stupid Cunt)

. . . and then there, will burn a resentment for the rest of your relationship.

Further a precedent.

She barks or turns on the tears & you does as she says.

Later she won't respect you as you're a pussy.

And you are a pussy.

Be easier in the long run to tell her your upgrading the bike to a newer model and that your putting aside 20% of your income towards the next upgrade.

Or you could just show her who wears the Pantyhose and do as she says.

She's probably already ear-marked the cash for new throw pillows, matching handbag and shoes, with a trip to the day spa for her and her besties.

Help me. I don't know what to do. My wife has said no more accessories for my bike until after xmas. I had to agree and then ordered a dynojet quickshifter. Did I do ok? Im thinking I should have ordered a steering damper also. Its easier to confess after and take my angry seks after like a real man.

As many have already commented...did you notice when your balls got slipped into her purse?

If it's a mutual decision, fair enough. Doesn't sound like it though. The way your story reads is that you got an ultimatum in a way...and you caved.

Many a biker has been given the same choice at some point, and I'm sure we miss the women who departed the scene :bye: with a surprised look on their faces :woohoo:

As long as you're happy...some of us will be happy for you :bs:

Lot of hate on this thread! Relax, guys.

If it's a mutual decision, fair enough.

It was mutual, and I'm not at all upset about it. I haven't had enough time to get out on the bike anywhere near as much as I used to, and having moved cities a lot of my old biker mates aren't around to head out with anymore.

It's still the end of an era and I'll still be sad not to own a bike but this is no kind of a big deal.

This has been my technique fro many a year now... Shot down to McIvor n Veitch's one time. Bought a Buell. Rode home. Parked in garage. Went to work the next day n called her at home.... Hey, go see what I have in the garage... Best part was I was away for 3 days at work... Plenty of time to let things chill...

Now days... I'm just tooo poor full stop!

Nope, sorry - not a very organised person. More than happy for it to be taken to a shop to be checked over if you're keen.
