I'm really glad for the seller, but continue to be baffled why anyone would bid more than 5 minutes before the close of an auction. (And not within the last 2 minutes or it auto-extends).

Because some people don't care about playing those stupid little games? Do you really think you're acheiving anything by doing this? You know, at least half a dozen other people have the same idea as you, and it only takes one other person to make your idea completely worthless.
Personally I only care about paying a fair price for a fair deal, so I put in my top dollar and push auto-bid. If I get it, great. If not, I move on.

I don't know why you are so offended by it. The whole thing is a game. I much prefer dealing with classified prices and then negotiating in person if I believe the price is too high. To believe that the sellers aren't treating it as a game too seems a little naive. That's the whole point of fixed price, hidden reserves, etc isn't it? Why should they be the ones with all the cards in their hand? They have the goods, I have the cash. I'd expect the same if I was listing an item, and I'd set a Buy Now at a realistic price so people are tempted to take up that.

so the seller doesn't withdraw it and yes this happens on $1 reserves quite frequently.

No matter the final bid (a dollar or a couple grand), all I want is the final bidder to pay cleanly.

Sure there was a risk but it was a calculated risk. I've planned and shared the Trademe link widely through social network from help of my friends. I've also studies how other dollar res bikes went and other sports bikes were selling.
Result? Over 50 watchers and 4 grand within 12 hours. I'm happy with it already.

Perhaps he's getting in now, because he saw the shit that other dude got for admitting his wife was making him sell his bike? :devil2:
The electronic gizmos I can understand, but the bike?
Too late for the ZX now, but tell us you're going to downsize or something, just to keep biking. Always considered you a biker dude.
Maybe you could get that hornet, and still come out with some coin left over.

Hey guys unfortunately I'll have to withdraw the auction for the benefit of both parties... unless some of you want the pieces. Will be contacting insurance tomorrow.
More detail coming soon.

Yes, thank you. I'm fine. I walked away without a single scratch (low speed lowside).
I was going to head out north for a short ride in the evening before the sunset. Lowside accident happened on Mairehau roundabout, front tyre slipped on oil patch as I entered the roundabout. I was only doing between 20-30kph then suddenly front slipped without a warning. I fell on right hand side sliding across. No car was behind me thankfully. A couple of people stopped and helped me back home.
Oggy knob saved from much worse damage. However below is the damage list (from what I can see).
Damage:
*Right-side fairing damage.
*Right peg damage
*Engine case damage (gear won't shift. Probability in engine internal damage.)
*Rear right fairing damage
Auction will be withdrawn in a couple of days.
Sorry for the disapointment everyone. I was looking forward to a very exciting and fun $1 reserve superbike auction :(
Note: Photo 3 is the result of cold tyre + oil.

What's even more scary is that the bike was first registered a day before my 2007 birthday (Registered on July 26th. Mines July 27th).

Sucks man.
Wow, that crash knob did 2/10 of fuckall for a 20-30k bin. Isn't engine case damage the sort of thing they're supposed to prevent? That said, if they're screwed into the engine case...

The bike has damage on the right hand side only with crank case busted and leaking. Probably lack of lubrication after dumping oil post-crash? The engine runs fine however.

The bike had bumped over a kerb on the side of roundabout. I believe that might have caused the impact on the engine case, busting through the fairings.
The bike will be picked up by Norjo Motorcycles for damage inspection and assessment for insurance on Monday.

Shit dude, that sounds bad with the leaking oil. Glad you're OK though! It might actually be better to import the parts yourself, and then pay a mechanic to fix it, rather than pay excess and lose your no claims bonus.

Good work on convincing the missus you were trying to sell. $1 reserving and then binning it is way better than just asking 115% of its value on TardMe like everyone else does.

I think you will find that the cover you smashed in is the starter motor cover. I smashed in mine when I full at the drags and it leaked a bit of oily type shit. Those fairings can be welded back and resprayed, probably cost you no more than 1000 bucks if you decided to do it yourself. So far I have spent less than 200 on mine, its just a time consuming job.

Hey everyone I just got an update from Star insurance. The bike will be repaired for the damage being cosmetic so when that's done the auction will be back. I don't know how long the repair will take.
Cheers!
