Well the Bluebridge Ferry is booked - and GoGal and I are booked to languish in the the beautiful South Island for February 2014 ~ long overdue!

We love staying in the country pubs we come across and are inviting any recommendations of country/small town pubs with accomodation...PLEASE :niceone:

Other than a catchup with a Mate in Chch, we have no itinerary - just how we like it

Cheeeeeers Shafty

Not exactly a country pub but the makarora tourist centre provides pretty ok accomodation, meals, bar at reasonable prices.

We have friends that have recently bought the Star & Garter in Waikari. He is a biker and both are very friendly down to earth people. Pub is a great country pub with very nice rooms and good food. There is always room at our humble abode on 'The Lake'. Fridge is always well stocked and our local is only a short boat ride around the corner. Give us a shout closer to the time Shafty so we can try and catch up. Cheers.

Not exactly a country pub, but there is a spare room at our place, and we are only a few minutes ride from Chatto Creek pub..

Two recommendations. Donegal House, Kaikoura (irish). Danseys Pass Hotel. Both have websites.

Thanks a bunch Morganw, appreciate the heads up

The trip has become "up in the air" unfortunately.......my better 1/2, Jude (Suzuki Gladius) broke her heal in May last year while we were driving trucks in Texas, and we have just discovered that it hasn't mended correctly, we are gutted

In the next week or so we hope She will have an MRI, blah blah - and know more about a recovery plan

We have the Ferry tickets booked, but thankfully no accomodation bookings....

Wish us luck! ;)
