I've had a couple days off - made a long, long weekend of it. Had to going into 'town' (I use that word loosely in Christchurch) to do a few errands and I popped in a few bike shops for a perve.

Rolling Thunder (Harley Davidson)
2014 models are arriving and I'm digging the metal flake. There are new graphics on the tanks of the Fat Bob - It does not work for me - here's what HD say:
New Diagonal Tank Graphics
In a world of more, more, more, sometimes just enough is all you really need. The new minimal tank graphics give a nod to the stripped-down nature of the bike. At the same time, the diagonal lines match its aggressive stance. No nonsense. No frills. Pure attitude. You don’t need to say much to make a bold statement.

Advertising people aye - you like it or you don't. Heaps will and I don't have $27k to spend. The wheels also have the HD name on them - just a wee bit sporty and I quite like this. Nice bike and appears to have decent brakes!

They have a $50k chromed out extra bling touring ride - $50ish I think. Beautiful paint. The Sportys have jumped in price $19k for a 1200 now.

Looks like ABS brakes are standard across the 2014 HD range - first company to do this I think.

Casbolts Honda

A CB1100 retro in stock in spiffy white (probably called ivory or arctic or Y-fronts or something ad speak for white), another pulled up while I was standing there. Interesting front wheel around the brakes. Will it gain a following? I could see the potential for modification ......

F6B - a 'bagger' version of the Gold Wing - likes the mag images and it looks cool in the flesh - black on black in stock and the price has been dropped at bit. If I was into a full tourer I'd be poking it with a stick.

Oh and they have one only new 750 cruiser reduced to $9999 - last years (or earlier? do they change?) model - cheap entry level cruiser if anyone is interested.

Ducati Diavel - two in stock - black on black on black! Selling well I'm told and look menacing. Something to buy if you are not keen on a HD or Jap cruiser?

Most interesting is the V8 500 in the shop. Made with two ZZR250 barrels and heads, hand fabricated below that and self made frame and bodywork. I'd love to hear it screaming!

E-Moto

A satin black RSV4 is strapped to it's packing crate as you walk in. Now I'm not a fan of Aprilias usual liquorice-allsorts graphics but this one looks quite stunning wit h the black offset by the polished frame. I'm nor usually that interested in the cream of the sport bikes but I'd bend my frame over one of these - bar risers anyone? Feck turn it naked - would not take much, and I don't like the weird screen on the naked version. $27k off the top of my head.

That was enough dreaming for the day but surprising I spied a beaut in each shop - things must be picking up as it has been a while since a bike shop visit made me grin. Must buy a Big Wednesday - no bucks here sadly for a new bike.

Ran out of time for Street & Sport but was there recently with tempting MV's, Guzzi's and Triumphs.

Pulled some pix off the net.

I does look good - the red rod in metallic was also a charmer. I still find the riding position on the V rods to be odd - mid feet would suit better.

Actually one thing I noticed and had a chuckle about and then though - shit that's a good idea. There are four Harley 'demo' seats hanging on the wall - each one has rows and rows of the word 'demo' printed on it.

So if you are unsure of the seat on your FXCZE (?????) you can fit the demo seat and go for a spin before laying down the coin. Now that's good thinking and customer service.

the majority of the brands certainly do have some nice kit out now...oh to have more money and time! Didnt go near a bike shop today but did enjoy a few hundred km of our northland roads today. Loving the tuono and its looks!
