I have been for a couple of mountain bike rides this week. I feel a bit shaky when I recall them but i think I need to share to get some support from you guys.

On Tuesday I did the usual, carving up the local Firball track feeling mellow & at one with the world. I was getting into it listening to the radio & grooving down to the Sound when out of nowhere U2 starting blasting into my ears- I know- no warning just Bono's wailing anguished voice bouncing round inside my cranium. It was FUCKING HORRIBLE

I froze - I mean I actually stopped the bike in the track & didn't know what to do. I'd heard & read about people reacting like this when in situations of extreme stress but never thought I'd be so petrified. I stood there for what seemed like eternity as that God-awful voice kept shrieking about some fucking tree on a hill or something.

I could feel my body quivering & I don't know how but summoned the strength to knock the ear plugs out of my ears. Sweet forest sounds quickly filled the void. I could breathe again.

I quickly ripped the earphones off & threw them away into the bush & stomped on my phone to rid the world of the hideousness inside it.

I had completely lost my mojo so took it easy on the rest of the ride. By the time I got back to the car & had a kit kat the twitches had stopped. :Fuck I never want to go thru that again" I said to myself.

This avo I went for another ride doing a different track just so i wouldn't get flashbacks from the other nite. I made sure I was listening on a different radio station & was having an awesome sweat soaked ride railing round the berms & floating over roots

Now you're not gonna fucking believe it, but once again without warning these appalling synthesised guitar riffs began some GBH on my ol earoles. FUCK YOU U2 YOU ARE NOT GOING TO RUIN THIS RIDE. In one fluid motion before I felt compelled to change the world or make a donation to whatever fucking charity is cool at the moment I had the phone out & slid the tuner down to the Breeze - aaaah yeah -Here's what was playing.

Barry White you saved my life. Thanks Man

Don't worry there are many forms of this affliction, I suffer the same thing when David Cunliff comes onto the TV or radio!

Of course in his case it's not the music so much as the bullshit that drives me crazy! :killingme

+1

When you are in the zone you should be at one with your surroundings and not trying to determine what the fox says.

U2 deserves the reputation Nickelback has.

If I'm listening to music, it's usually Yello or Flanders & Swan.

Although Dire Straights is creeping back into the playlist...

Have you heard The Big Muffin Serious Band's cover of "Sultans of Swing" - in Spanish :)

And do you really listen to them a lot ???

Not a lot.
But I don't listen to much music at all.

When I do though, it's a small selection of quality artists...

Buddy Wassisname and the Other Fellers, Flanders & Swan, Yello, Dire Straits, Stephane Pique, Weird Al...

Fuaaniie post, good work.

I'd give you rep - but not a single other artist in this thread deserves any mention other than Bluerk! Old man's cheesey music (I'm only 45, so forgive my youthful rebellious point of view & you probably don't understand music from my era, all shouting, its not even singing I guess to youse guys).

So buy a 2 stroke dirtbike & the soundtrack can be beautiful ripping calico - Brraaaap! -

No more 'puffing sweaty man sound overlaced with Phil Collins or whatever it is you listen to normally.

Actually even better listening to an aussie busker type pissed out of his brain in a pommy pub singing it while taking his clothes off with the finale being him plying the guitar with his dick. He was kinda limp..

On the bright side. Since changing to the sound, the radio doesn't get turned off FIVE TIMES A DAY like when on the rock and Ufucking useless gits2 come on.

Bono can suck the sweat off my balls!
