EPIC race. I would if I could. Prefer to have the R8 than a bike though. Sorry haters. Love the R8. At times the flow of traffic was actually moving pretty quickly though.

I would also prefer an R8 over a bike any day. Then I could sell the R8 and buy many bikes. A car is NOT a substitute for a bike!

It may not be a substitute, but they are equally good in their own way.

Maybe that's why he created money. He wanted to highlight who the wankers were and lo, he created money and bmw's.
Oh, and I think he drove really rather well.

Certifiable, the lot. Surprised no prangs happened, as all of em seemed to be going by that "drive/ride it like you stole it" mantra.

What speed was that traffic doing. He "slows down" to the traffic speed a few times and I never see the speedo go less than 140kph!

Brazilian motorway speed limit is 120kmh but I guess that has some 'flexibility'. Some of the small cars that are being passed still appear to be going pretty quick (compared to the R8's indicated speed).
We soon learned that 70mph wasn't sufficient to be maintaining a 'fast lane' presence when we did the UK trip last year. Try that and you very quickly have cars flashing their lights behind you before they head past at 100mph (160kmh+), and it was commonly a Merc, Audi, Range Rover or something exotic. Bike don't bother to flash, they usually just filter.
Video was definitely OTT. Passenger not impressed

Looked like somebody with an R8 and an out of control ego. The bikes didn't appear to be racing him, it's all in his (giant) head. Shame he didn't crash killing himself and his passenger.

I found that 170kph in the fast lane on the Italian motorways still attracted the light flashers. They passed me like I was standing still once I pulled back in (not having slowed at all).

I don't think I have ever heard a ZX10 rev so high and not move too fast at all. Cunt must have had bricks in his pockets.
Or a ZX6R.

V10 R8 packs a punch and handles like it's stuck to the road with super glue. V8 is no slow poke either and ohhhhh the sound of that V8 is purty.

Yeah, but a ZX10 will do naughty things to one in a straight line, considering a Panignale spanks a GT2 RS in a straight line, and a GT2 has a shit load moar poke than an R8:msn-wink:
Still a bunch of knobs anyway
Edit, tank racing

Yeah...until you come to a corner! Some cars can corner so fast, smooth and flat that it is genuinely astonishing. Straight line speed is only a small part of the equation...personally I only find it mildly entertaining. Handling and corner speed...that provides a lot of the thrills.

I went for a spin in a TVR last weekend on the back road I use when I can't be arsed using the 'motorway' to get home. I know the road well and can get from one end to the other pretty rapidly. The car had me grinning like a twat. A bike just cannot compare with the grip that four wide wheels gives you. I wish I had timed it now.

Yup, most modern sport cars will out corner (and brake, easily) a sport bike. But they weren't really going through corners...
I know my mate's RS Focus would have me in the corners on any bike. :niceone:

BM'r boy knows how to ride. Nice.
BUT most road riders don't have that level of skill and I suggest that the driver of the GTR didn't have the level of skill in 4 wheels that the BMW rider has on 2. I mean, that BMW is a long way ahead of my CBR1000rr in terms of handling capabilities...but it's not THAT much better that it will hold off a quick cage. Give me a nice set of twisties in my Audi RS and I would hapily bet on myself vs most run-of-the-mill litre bike riders...including myself - to win. (Theoretically of course, one doesn't condone street racing).

Even if that raving homo Jimmy is wrong, I've only got the RF so it'll balance out.
Now, to convince track organisers to let us out together.

Back in "the day" along an undisclosed twisty section of secluded road in an undisclosed town in an undisclosed country there were a bunch of us 19/20 year olds with modified high performance cars that used to meet on a Thursday night at about 1:30am and race from a certain turnoff down the 25km course down to a remote beach. Rules were simple enough to keep it reasonably safe (we all had some track experience too so weren't complete muppets). At the time, it was an absolute blast. So much fun. In retrospect, it was also rather stupid and irresponsible. Point being, I raced on the road when I was young...now I am not so young and realise what the consequences of my actions could have been!
Still love a good race though...there is a story for another day of a race with a cop through a central North Island Gorge when the road was closed...
