Apart from the headlight configuration that is reminiscent of a 'bastard son of a bush-pig' (or B King) it’s not a bad looking bike.

Out of curiosity, I took the 2014 X4 out for a test ride today. Picked it up at the dealer in Takapuna, very nice people there. I compare it straight off with my 2013 KTM Duke 200 ABS, because that's my daily commuter.

It looks cool!
The seating position on the X4 it more lean forward, which is not my preference on this kind of bike.
The instrumentation is very clear and easy to read, bit it lacks features like fuel consumption, KM til out of petrol etc. It just has the very basic.
The front brakes was screaming (Loud!!) on hard braking. People were looking at me when coming to a stop in the city. The brakes is overall noticeable weaker than the Duke.
The suspension felt stiffer than the Duke. For good or bad, cant say.
The X4 has a few more HP on paper, but I'm curious on where they have hidden them. It felt a lot slower and more sluggish. Full throttle when taking of from the red light, all the time, every time. But still nothing much happens. The Duke has a lot more get-up-and-go. Maybe gearing?
Rear mirrors useless at highway speed because of vibrations. A lot of vibes in general.
Louder. For good or bad.
Much lower price than the Duke. 6K new.

Sum: It does not really do anything better than The Duke 200. It is less refined in every area. But it is $2K cheaper, which might be a deal breaker for some. But in this case, you get what you pay for: A brand new, OK bike, for a low price. Though, I think a potential buyer would be happier with a second hand Duke.
