A man who was clocked riding a motorcycle at 160kmh without a helmet before crashing near Havelock was asking for a tragic outcome, police say.

Injuries described as serious grazes - they're very lucky if that's all they got away with. I think I'll stick with wearing appropriate gear, on my regisitered and warrented bike, with my license firmly in pocket.

Russian roulette really. Sometimes youse gets aways with it; it depends how you like to play the odds.

As for public perception, I'd like to think that the general public will view him as the exception to most riders.

It isn't fair. Accept it and move on.

Erm, it was their right wasn't it? I don't recall there being any laws that say you have to dress up like a Power Ranger every time you throw your leg over the bike. Or did I miss that meeting as well? In this case the guy was an idiot, but only because he fell off.

No but it does state that you need to wear an approved helmet & have a fucking licence .... Clothing is optional .... it is only ACC that gives a shit about that kinda thing ....

yeah I was talking about it yesterday with a mate ... hi response :
The solution is that any injury inflicted to a person during a illegal activity will not be covered by ACC - all medical treatment will be carried out to a level of a non life threatening capacity, and this will be repaid via court order or the likes. Any further corrective cosmetic surgery will need to be paid for by the patient without WINZ or ACC assistance..

Seems fair to me .... then fees can come down a bit

No helmet required (with conditions) in Florida. Speed limit 70MPH on some highways. Very warm most of the time, T-shirts common.

Doesn't seem they were doing something that extreme to me.

Are you just trying to prove a stereotype there or something? :p

Bring the well swept non cheese grater roads straight roads that will mostly be ridden by those dudes over here and it will be nothing outrageous either.
