Welcome back Bruce, bum news about the life changes but it happens, and sometimes for the better. We were in Turangi Queens Birthday weekend, some really nice roads to ride on down that way, National Park-Taumranui/Turangi-Mangakino etc.

I don't know when you were last here, but the Gentle Annie has been sealed for a coupla years. Just something to aim for? Making new plans is usually a good thing.

The Gentle Annie runs from Taihape to Hastings over the Ruahine Ranges. The road has been there a long time but has just been completely sealed the last couple of years or so. It's a top ride - as long as you can go 160k or so between gas stations. It probably has the potential to be seriously unpleasant in winter, but is great in nice weather.
