Anyone know if Sky will be televising this again?

have not looked though the sky list yet but i see its on the same network in the states so thats a good thing,
our ESPN is just run off australia's, so while Reed (now Kawasaki mounted yay) is still racing it should still keep playing there,
can;t see any beating RV for the title tho, Stewart did show he can run with him at the monster cup tho
MIllsaps and Canard have been injured this week as well, Canard broke an arm so will likely miss a couple of rounds at least, and Millsaps is said to have done a knee, but he might tuff it out, Tedesco is said to be the back up rider for him,

I think Bubba will challenge early on, but by around round 5 he'll be injured, my take is he was running fast at the MEC, but a lot of that was a single jump he took a risk few other dared, but the rest of the track he looked slower & more on the ragged edge.
I dunno, I think Eli & Rozcen will give RV a run for his money, sounds like KTM have got an additional brace on the frame which they are claiming makes a real difference to for the 2014, so Dungey is likely to also be up there.
Losign Davi & Troy this early is a shame for them, it's pretty close to the opening to get injured, it'd be gutting for them both.

KTM have made another special edition so they can run a new frame for the factory boys, shame they can't get it right the first time like the japs aye (just joking don't get upset, last years Honda was not loved by many top SX riders)
i would not be surprised to see Eli and Ken win a round or 2, but i don't think they will be in the title chase,
I think your right about Bubba, I think it will come down to the two Ryan's again, and I think Villopoto has pulled away in speed a bit last year tho,
Be interesting to see if Reed gets back to where he was in 2012, challanging for wins, as last year he was just a top 5 guy on his good nights, and especially in the outdoors he was no where near the top 5

Generally not one to listen to rumour, but I heard a rumour JS sustained a nasty head injury when he crashed in the Las Vegas final of '11 SX season, which really affected his balance (heard stories of him randomly falling over in the pits during the '12 season). It was supposedly kept quiet from the media, no idea if it's true, but was apparently why he's crashed so regularly since, as he is still having some issues.

he has crashed a lot before that as well, but an interesting rumor none the less, would find it hard to believe he was falling over in the pits and still allowed to ride by his family and team tho,

As with most rumours, if it has any merit, it will have been exaggerated, I'm sure. It was along the lines of it being an occassional issue with random dizzy spells and JS insisted for the most part he was fine. There were only a few people outside his team that "knew" and their opinion was he shouldn't be anywhere near a dirt bike, but it he insisted and those around him reluctantly allowed him to continue racing.
But, of course, it is a rumour and it could be complete bollocks :)

I think ktm have come along way since everts joined and I think now you'll really see the benefits of decoster as he moves ktm from catchup to pushing things :), I think he had a huge job and I do wonder if rd was hanging back a bit and whether the frame tweak might just be enough to let him let loose. Certainly didn't sound like Broxy loved the ktm frame and as far as I know it's the same 250/450.
Good call on Eli/ken.
Cr, now that's interesting, seems to me a confidence rider and that kx450 is a very polished bike, my recollection is no real changes to rv bike since 2012, lots of evolution In there mind you.
Kinda feels like rv/rd/et/cr/kr but a long season and be a great season to get to watch a race.

Good 2 c the races were close, can't say I'm a fan of the new re old format of semi's as the holeshot takes on bigger part in qualifying.
Nice to c Reed getting a good result after last year and He'll be a spoiler for some as I can't see him winning the overall but he will take points away from a few championship contenders.
Ditto the same for Bubba supa fast just seems to crash a lot now days.
Finally KTM have 2 top riders who can win and when Milsaps returns that'll be 3 . You just can't relie on 1 rider to do it alone.

Yeah have to say it was an awesome opening round, although if there is a negative to this season, it's that there are so many 250 riders on their rookie 450 year, there's feck all riders left in the 250 class I know anything about.
I'd say RV still has the outright pace, A1 showed Roczen has the speed to stay with him, but not catch him. JS7 was fast as feck until he crashed, which shows he's still riding at 11/10ths. If he could hold it together he could win, but I think we'll continue to see more flashes of crazy speed and more crashes.
Also agree it's good to see Reed getting some form back, but there are so many fast guys in the 450s this year, I reckon it will be won and lost on the worst races, rather than the best.

agreed with the last line, RV did not seem keen to try to get back to the front and was happy to start with a top 5, he showed some pace in the heats, and when it gets back to east coast with better dirt it will be interesting to see how he goes,
thought Roczen might get a win this year, did not expect it at round 1, I like the semi's, as it will give more guys tv time, and i like the 22 man main events in the 450's as well,

Yep rd has the speed, but his passing needs work, some time watching rev or js would be good, both are awesome at catching a rider and within a few corners pulling a pass.

im very calm, 1 and 2 in the points type calm ;), RV is a front wheel loss, and a boot in the front wheel from being 4 from 4 for the year, and has caught and passed everyone so far at some point,
yeah I am not sure why Barcia is off the pace, you would think the bike would be better than last year, but maybe not having another person improving it as well is hurting, (no Reed or SHort like last year, and no Canard)

I'm just hoping Dungy keeps taking his concrete pills and luck continues to occassionally shine on the German rookie, who I've being supporting/following since his FIM MX2 days. Neither will give RV any reason to lose any sleep this season (Scott is correct that he's shown a clear speed advantage in every round so far), but an orange pilot on the championship podium would keep me happy.

I agree on Stewart, sadly Anaheim 1 has done enough damage to his points total to realistically preclude him from the championship, so he may cruise to a placing instead (hope there's still enough fire in his belly to stop him from doing that). But a round win is almost certain.
Would be awesome for Breyton to win one too, he's had his fast moments, so he has the potential to.
I just hope it doesn't end up being the SX equivalent of the Schumacher/Ferrari F1 era, RV is enormously talented but it gets real boring real quick if one rider just walks away with the championship.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I do get the feeling the RV train has just let the station and got up to speed.
Been a great start to the season, but been a bit lucky RV has had a couple of hiccups, pretty much reminds me of last season, slow start, but once he was up to speed, was just unstoppable. Huge respect for the guy, what he does on a dirtbike is ridiculous, just hope someone else can come out swinging and at least keep him honest for the length of the season.

I think he is for sure the front runner, but with a stacked top 7 ( 9 with tomac/carnard ) mistakes or a bad start are really costly, so I think this one is going down to the wire.

Random Friday question... Watching Oakland with the missus on the TV on Monday (love smart TVs!), she asked "would you like to be able to ride like that?". I know, typical wifey question, but I said if I could ride like the slowest guy on that track, I'd die a happy man.
So, considering there's quite a few riders in both the 250s and 450s I have no clue about and probably will never know anything about, due to falling off the back of the LCQ, how would those guys rate if they, for example, came and raced MX in NZ, or did the Oz SX series? Are they just grid fillers, or are they geniunely fast guys waiting to build speed and experience, get the right team/bike etc?

Cody Cooper never qualified for a 450 main event in about 7 attempts in 2009 when on the JGR yamaha,
BIlly Ainsworth came to NZ for the first manakau SX in 2008 or 9, got 4th on a stock suspension after Air NZ lost his suspension and it did not arrive till the next day, he used to qualify for 250 east coast main events,
Daryl Hurley qualified for mains on a 450, and got top 10's on the lites bike, BT won a lites title over Dungey, Josh did one season on a 125 honda in about 03, and from memory made 3 out of 5 mains,
so basically our top guys are good enough to qualify, and out best were very good,
the guys that make the night show (40 each class), are all very good riders, if you ever go and watch the afternoon practices, their are some guys out there that need to get a bit better,

Ah, didn't even know there were other guys trying to make the televised part of the race. Was always curious as to the skill level of the lower level riders, there always seems to be a chasm of speed differential between them and the top 10 riders, it is hard to judge how fast they really are.
Still gutted BT never got to have another go at the 'States, he did beat Dungey as you say, as well as Cairolli and he definitely kept RV honest in 07 too.

I think RV has calmed down a bit this year, saw it at A1 when he was happy to stay 4th after the tip over, and again last night, its like he has realized he can not win every race but to stay on the podium until he gets where he is better in the soft dirt,

at first i thought it was pretty dirty, then i saw the first reply and did not think it was that bad, then the second reply from the angle behind made it look worse,
overall i think Mookie jsut tried to get the position back straight away, and Anderson tried to cover, but not well enough, it was tuff racing but not really dirty IMO

Anderson used a different line. The 2 of them had a discussion in the mid field straight after the race about it. Sorted it out and shook hands.
AMA cleared reviewed it and cleared Stewart. Don't get me wrong I like the way Anderson roll's.
Troy Lee has to be stoked with his guys, all 4 in the top 10 in points.
The lights is getting good, Anderson and Seely tied for 1st Wilson only 12 back. Impressed with the rookies Webb and Hill. Be interesting to see how AC goes on the east coast.

agree with your comments, Mookie was going for the block pass back, and Anderson tried to cover the line, he just did not get their fast enough,
as with the Block pass he did on Mookie the corner before, Mookie stopped as not to get taken out, Travis Pastana wrote a good article that basically said if you get taken out its your fault, for not covering the inside enough, and not being smart enough to pull up in time,

Was great to see Stewart take the win, he was obviously stoked as well, but his crash record already will put him out of serious contention for the championship. Roczen may keep on RV's tail, but I don't see him really making the push to close the overall points gap. He was really fading by the end, reckon both Reed and Dungey would have put a challenge on him in the last lap. K-Roc will win a championship though, he's definitely got the talent and more time racing 450s will bring even more speed.

AC continues to impress, Davalos continues to fail..
The #7 looked good out front. RV let him have it eh Scott..
Barcia seems to be riding like a bigger dick each week, Seely was showing him up until he crashed.
Deano punts Alessi and the team goes on Vital with their own footage and has a cry. WTF. And they create a new term.. Allessied. If it actually was them, total marketing stupidity.

Gutted K-Roc was a lap down due to a mechanical and is now sitting in 4th. RV hasn't totally dominated, but he's yet to have a shocker round, which every other possible challenger has.
Realistically, for Dungey to have a hope in hell, it's going to require at least one DNF from RV, which I don't see happening. Roczen and Stewart are too far behind now.

Kevin Winham came out and opened the show and did a few transitions.
I managed to get a track walk pass, the dirt was very soft and the maintenance machines came out every 3 races to fix up all the ruts.
Stewart was amazing to watch live, he is some kind of freak to be able to ride at those speeds.

Roczen was average last week as well, even without the mechanical (wasn't looking great in qualifying). I'm hoping the rumours about his switch to RCH next year aren't true, in that he's buttoned off because this is his last season on orange and he's not committed to the current team anymore.

True, even though he's got plenty of experience, first season of 450s, with a heavy schedule and one of the fastest fields to race against for a long time, will all definitely be taking it's toll. He had a decent fall at Indy too, might have knocked him back a bit.

I am not sure RV could have beat him, but your right, no point going after it when Dungey was a couple of places back, and Dungey made the mistake on the last lap which will cost him 2nd in teh championship i think, Stew is riding awesome at the moment, 35 points with 4 races to go will be pretty hard to beat, only has to get 4th in every round to win,
Davalos showed some guts under pressure to, hes crashed our of the lead so many times over the years, and this one was with the red plate,

No sign of the stomach issues that affected him last week, that is the only thing that could really stop RV from taking another championship, so naturally he'll be riding smart. Not much point risking injury, when keeping one foot on the podium in the next 4 rounds will get him the overall.

The season has been a good one not one rider really dominating , but the riders who makes the least mistakes/bad days is sure to win RVP.

agreed last night was pretty boring, i much prefer to see RV start last, pass everyone and win that way, but ill take a holeshot and pull away and win anyway ;)
Wilson apprantly hurt his shoulder in the heat race crash, that is why he looked upset after the main, he put a hell of a charge in the last couple of laps, I think he made a mistake going to the inside of the split lain on the last lap, no on made that line work all night, he may have been able to get close enough for a block pass on the last corner had we tried to get closer,

Reed is another one who was cocky as fuck, but when he got older he got humbler and made more fans, Stewart is going though a similar transition now,
i bet it would be hard not to be cocky with 4 championships is a row,
not sure a scripted add is what i would judge anyone off anyway,

big call saying Everts is the best modern day MX rider, I would say RC is, 10 MX titles in 10 years, but Everts is the greatest Euro ever for sure, and his last ride against Stewart at Matterly basin was pretty amazing,
I would have been very cool to see Everts VS RC for a season in Europe, as I think Everts would have gone a lot better than any of the US people would assume, with the difference in tracks and surfaces being a huge difference, where in america they are all prepped very similar,

They award the championship to the guy (or girl if CD gets there) who is the fastest over the rounds, not the one who interviews the best.
I gather in in sx/mx confidence in yourself and your abilities may not be everything but it's pretty high on the list of must have's and I think a side effect of that is appearing cocky.
I also think that it seems like Stewart's riding has really matured this year, he seems to be pushing to the edge in the right places, and would really be in the points hunt without that handlebar/header pipe collision.

great article by Jason Thomas here,
http://racerxonline.com/2014/04/15/breakdown-the-hidden-battle-in-seattle
I have really liked his insights this year, he is a guy that made a living in this sport for a long time, when others with more talent and speed have come and gone, he raced down in NZ once as well at the Mystry Creek Supercross

Yes a very good article. I kind of suspected that the last 2 races were more of a case of RV not having to ride safe and go for the points, he has the buffer to wind up to a full 100% and silence a few people who up until then were claiming (fairly) that JS was still the fastest guy out there this season, despite the points talley.

after Stewart passed RV at St Louis RV looked pissed as hell in the interviews, it looked like RC did when Reed was beating him in 04 at the end of the season, it hurt like hell, and that was straight up, I think he would not ride on the edge like JS tried to do last weekend,

See the rumors RV is out for the outdoors, I think it makes alot of sense. Seems to me he needs a break, 6 months to just unwind a bit.
I don't see how it's any easier for those guys than say Richie McCaw or Dan Carter.

I agree, I think they make a big deal of these guys racing 15 weekends in a row, NFL, rugby and league do it, Ice Hockey/NBA, Baseball and Football will play 2 or 3 times a week, although half of those games are at home, were SX travel every week,
it will be interesting, MC went to MX only to make his SX career longer, so did Windom, and Larrocco,
RC did miss a SX season due to injury, but that was the only one,
I was hoping for a CR22 VS RV1 battle of the KX450F's all summer ;) ;)

You'll have to make do with watching the KTM's of Dungey & Roczen dominating :).
I actually think it'll be interesting if Fox can do to MX what they've achieved with SX TV coverage, it's been a huge lift & I think MX covered right could be the better rating sport to be honest.

Late to the party here. But anyway my 2 cents
Alessi has been showing some amazing starts but can never hold it together past the first few laps. Not sure if its mental or physical with him. And Dungey has finally grown a set of balls and not riding like mr nice guy everywhere.

He sets his bike up for the starts to get the holeshot bonus because he knows he is not good enough to get win or even place money.

RV has more holeshots in main events than Alessi this year,
he seems to be able to stay up front for the heat races, but your right, he's been dropping like a stone in the mains,

I say either JS or RV, depends on which guy is on it, because the RV from the last 2 weeks is almost unbeatable, and the JS from the 3 weeks before that was as well, The both will be outdoor testing for at least some of the time,
I stand by kr :), fastest in practise and the track got a short dump of rain about 5:15, looks ok as long as not another rainfall.
Everyone got hauled inside earlier because they were worried about lightning, looks like racing will be on time though.

RV clinched with another dominating wire to wire win, 6 wins on the year, and has looked a step above everybody in the last 2 races, would be a brace man to bet against him next week, esp with Stewart looking like he damaged his knee,

Well last night was bloody awesome so much more to the racing that isnt shown on tv meet a ton of people everyone was really friendly.
Had some great seats even had a fully stocked bar at the top our seating (made for many short trips to top up)
And the rain just made it more exciting. Starting to think the 500 mile round trip for the outdoor will have to be added to the bucket list.

outdoors are a different buzz, but still amazing, the SX "show" is just awesome, well worth the trip,
Unadilla is ment to be awesome, if you can get a camper to camp at the track i would reccomend it, but even just a day trip is well worth it,

well Sky screwed us again, saying it would be live and it wasn't,
RV won again, leading the last 80 laps of racing, 7 wins, 63 point gap in the end, pretty dominate performance,
Good to see another winner in the lites, with Yamaha getting its first win on their new 250F

Dungey and Roczen 2 and 3, so 2 orange bikes on the final podium and championship, so I'm happy!

Got screwed here as well tbey thought it was more important to replay a baseball game so when I watched this morning missed the last 8 laps of the 450s. Would have stayed I p to watch but the time difference ment a 2am finish.
