Will gas be paid for? And ferry crossing? How urgent?

Will gas be paid for? And ferry crossing? How urgent? All costs paid for. Reason for this is simple: No transporter can get the bike to Chch before middle of January. The bike is equipped with one of those small MC trailers. Bike needs to be in Chch before Xmas. So if you want to spend Xmas in Chch then this is the opportunity to do so...

I wouldn't normally suggest this but have you considered rail as an option? How much are you willing to spend to move it? By the time you pay someone gas and ferry costs etc it must be adding up a bit???

No, rail has not been considered at this stage. Yep, there will be costs. But no matter how you try to do this there will be costs, and as the idea is to get the bike to Chch before Xmas the options are limited.

Favourite ever quote from you haha.

If I was on holiday, I'd do this no dramas, might be a bit tough squeezing this in on a weekend.

Oh. My. God.

Could you not have bought it minus the trailer?

If the bike is in Tirau, how would the flight work? Could it be moved to Hamilton? I assume the bike is all legal etc.

I could knock this off in a weekend, would be some interesting fun. Head from Auckland to somewhere on Friday evening. Saturday to Wellington, likely grab a late afternoon or early evening ferry (assuming this can be booked) and stay in Picton, Chch on Sunday, fly back to the somewhere and back to Auckland. So the bike would need to be somewhere close-ish to flight, unless someone can assist?

Ok chaps and chapesses. We have had a multitude of bikers who are contemplating this, so no more applicants required thank you.

And, thanks to the ones who have contributed here. I am proud to be part of this community (even if I think the T's are horrible...)

Cheers bud.

New owner has given me a call for an initial scope. Trailer not included as he figures it would be more dangerous, so it will be moved by Motorcycle Movers next year when they have space. He's still sussing out options like rail.

Otherwise, I'm figuring best is probably a bus Friday evening to Tirau, collect bike next morning and down to ferry. Sailing options are probably the most tricky part (but at least a trailer doesn't have to be factored in). Other option is collecting the bike say this weekend, then riding it down next weekend (ferries looking more difficult closer to Christmas though). Flights north are easy.

See what the owner wants... could also see if a mate has been let out of school (a teacher) and maybe he wants a few days of riding (if he's allowed)
