Too expensive

Didn't you post a thread up a few weeks ago about knocking noises from down there? Letting it fuck itself is liable to get more expensive...

If you're really hardup you can get some cheap industrial chain, but is false economy cos it won't last very long, and it'll probably cause whatever sprockets you get to wear prematurely too.

I have a new chain already but need some sprockets and I need to get them cheap btw the knocking was the chain hitting centre stand lol

Than why put chain in the title and first post...

What do you think is cheap? What is the bike shop asking for?

Okie dokie, that gives us a lot more to work with. And yes, 280 sounds a little steep if that is just the parts.

JT standard sprocket set about 80bucks plus shipping (approx 30iirc) from http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/xj_600/84-90/

JT is also a good brand name to search for locally that should get you a decent deal.

You really need to change chain if it has been running with worn sprockets even if only for a short time.
Should be able to get both sprockets for $100-$150 and chain $100-$150, so bike shop wasn't far away.
If too dear what about importing, but it's still going to cost.

When I had to replace the sprockets on my 2008 Honda 250, I was quoted $180 and 3 weeks wait from the Honda dealer. Aftermarket sprockets in NZ did not go under 40t. Got the sprockets from a Sydney dealer in 5 days and $90 off the credit card. Would be worth emailing a few dealers over there.
