So my (47 yo) brother claims to have been pulled over by a cop today while riding his L2 GSXR 1000.
Acoording to my brother the cop said the radar had him at 168 kmh but locked on at 150kmh.
My brother has no motorcycle license of any sort not even a learners.
He was sent on his way without any infringement notices being written and says he barely got a warning.
Supposedly the last thing the cop said to him was "i never pulled you over, if they find out about this ill be in the shit"
If I could be certain it was true I would be laying a complaint against this officer on the basis of if he is letting this go what else is he turning a blind eye to?
I just cant believe this story though.
What do you guys think? Anybody here got a similar (true) experience.

Maybe it was that Tauranga cop that got spanked a few years back by one of his own for doing 170 on a GSXR1000, pro biker or something or maybe he stopped straight away and passed the attitude test?
On the MythBusters scale I'd rate it plausible without further info and who the cop was etc...
Not worth losing any sleep over it anyway, or kicking up a fuss down at the station and looking silly...
I know of one group ride down our way few years back where one guy was also clocked at 150ish, cop baited him for ages, telling him was bike impounded etc, then just let him go with $150 improper overtaking fine.
There are still some good ones out there.
Also about ten years ago a fellow truck driver was doing the blind overtake on SH5 at night between Tirau and Rotorua based on some guy up front telling him it was 'all clear buddy' on the CB.
But it turned out not to be all clear, they guy broadcast a warning but too late. Anyway a lady coming the other way confronted by a b-train panics (rightfully so), locks it up and does a 180 into bank.
Now the driver concerned had no truck licenses at all but was one of those savvy talkers. He got the other ladys car moved saying it was in a dangerous pot and swept up all the glass, when the cops arrived they couldn't really tell where the accident had happened. Now that whole situation had mega potential to be a disaster but he only got the same fine as above $150 for bad overtaking and prob for licence also and he did get the sack of course...

That's just one of their PR lines they use when the pursuit blame happens after it all goes wrong, from what I've seen in real life coming past my house and also when on the road in the truck the whole "pursuit policy" is just for decoration. I don't mind the cops chasing people and wish they would just say hey this is what we do to catch the bad guys instead of bending over to the Remuera 4WD club who prob only complain as they had a parking ticket that day.
Awhile back there was a story in our rag down here:
A STATIONARY patrol car clocked an ONCOMING Subaru at 175kph, in court police said the offender ACCELERATED more after going past the cop. Now how fast did that stationary SV6 commodore go to catch up after he turned around and initiated a pursuit??? They caught the guy in the end, well done and all. But they missed an opportunity to say to these young ones hey you cant outrun us.
Even watching that police 10-7 show, most people can probably work out how fast those cars are going sometimes from the sound even though the camera might conveniently point away from the speedo.
But I guess if your safety message that going 4k over the limit is a deathtrap you can't be admitting to be doing xxxkm/h in daily duties with near zero crash rate...

Depends on the police officer I guess. I got pulled over by a dog handler not so long ago. I was on an SV1000, coming in from Porirua back to the shop after doing an insurance valuation. Wasn't paying attention and zig zagged my way through some traffic at around 140-150. He was fair wetting himself when he first pulled me over. Once I'd taken my helmet off and he could see I was an old cunt and learnt where I worked etc...he calmed down. We ended up having a bit of a chat and he sent me on my merry way. Obviously had far better things to do thatn bother with the paper work etc. So it CAN happen. Doubt it'd happen too often this time of year but.

A 75 year old senior citizen bought a brand new Ducati Diavel and drove it out of the salesroom, with the salesman shaking his head at what he just let happen.
Taking off down the motorway, he opened the throttle and was soon doing 120mph, he was revelling this new experience.
”Amazing!" he thought as he flew down the road, enjoying pushing the bike more and more. Looking in his mirror, he saw a police car behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring.
"I can get away from him - no problem!" thought the elderly nutcase as he opened it up to 140mph, then 150 then 160.
Suddenly, he thought, "What on earth am I doing? I'm too old for this nonsense!" So he pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the police car to catch up with him.
Pulling in behind him, the police officer walked up to the now distraught man, looked at his watch and said, ”Sir, my shift ends in 10 minutes. Today is Friday and I'm taking off for the weekend. If you can give me a reason why you were speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go."
The old man, looked very seriously at the policeman and replied, "Years ago my wife ran off with a policeman. I thought you were bringing her back." "Have a good day, Sir", said the policeman.

Not so sure ... back when we used to be able to listen in on the scanner, I heard of Mr :Police: call in a chase.
It started on East Coast Road in Auckland, the dude on the Tractor ( Hardley ) failed to stop for a WOF/REG check ( profiling ) he turned into Lonely Track Road & headed west at a leisurely pace at the end of that he turned left down the Albany hill to the bottom & then went up The Avenue .... It was a dry night, good visibility, the rider was not out of control, the speed was being called over the radio every so often until coms said na pull out & that was about 150ish for memory, he pulled over the sirens went off & they went into search mode ....
This was also somewhere between 11pm & 2am for memory

Ok, you ride a Boulevard so are exempt from this question, but what exactly is the point of a big sportsbike? Riding around at 104km/h? I think not.
The rider is a wanker for telling his brother, he must have known that he is the type who writes letters to the editor etc. Rather than laying a complaint about the cop perhaps the OP would be better to grass his brother up for riding without a licence? Or is it only the Police who can do wrong?

Probably true. Mine told me that he either had to let me go or arrest me. I was 18 or 19 at the time. He had me dead to rights. I think in my favour I dropped to me knees, admitted everything, and sucked really hard. I was going a tad faster than your brother, probably in a far far stupider place.
That was a long time ago. I'm surprised that in today's environment full of goody two shoe wankers and tiny video cameras, such discretion would be offered. I didn't repent all of my speeding ways, but I still give all police officers the benefit of the doubt in most matters. Probably the biggest lesson I learnt that day was treat them like human beings and they'll reciprocate.

Shame then that this good sort could lose his job due to a complaint from a third party.
But then it's not true is it? A telling off lasts until you realise that you got away with it, and as you are no closer to a ban you might let your speed creep up a bit, knowing you might get off again next time. Demerits leave a two year lasting impression.
