Can anyone recommend a good mechanic for a 1st service of a bike? Also whats the going rate, I know Red Baron charge around $300. Anyone used motorcycle doctors? Thanks

Hey there & welcome to the site. There's a really nifty search feature up there, to the right. Type Motorcycle Doctors into that, there's heaps of feedback on the site about MD, 'most all of it glowing.

Of course you could get the 1st service included in the price of the bike

Depends on the bike, depends on the shop servicing it.
I had a $950 first service once...
No, yours shouldn't be nearly that much, and yes, try negotiating it into the sale...

It will cost you $137.15 for a full service.
If you want the premium service which replaces the power band its an extra $25. Red power bands are an additional $5 (they last longer.)
Oh, yellow bikes get a 10% discount since its christmas.

The price will depend on what you have. Most 1st service will be an oil change and new filter, and general check. I guess the difference will be what type of oil and how much it takes. I take it that you are talking about a brand new bike and not new to you. Your profile suggests you don't have a bike.
What do you have?

Motorcycle Doctor. Does a good job, fair prices, comes to you, doesn't make you feel stupid when you ask questions.
Definitely recommended.

You knocked them down $1000 on the bike so they got you back with the service? I think its a bit of a rip off that cars get between 3 and 5 years free but bikes get nothing considering they are smaller and have less things to service/go wrong.
having said that, they are often stored outside in the elements, things like brakes etc are not housed within wheel arches, they usually have higher redlines . . .
Don;t like it, buy second hand, or not at all!
