Im stumped... 1991 CBR250R, wont start, fires kinda... but if any throttle given it floods.
Carbs been checked, plenty of gas and spark.

This thing red lines at 19k... has anyone had an advanced spark type problem with these things? (this is where I think the problem is)

Thanks in advance.

Fully charge the battery (2 day trickle charge), drain carbs, change plugs, faint squirt of engine start on the air filter (you just need a bit of vapour to take the load of the starter moter), then its no throttle and no choke 15s on 15s off. As soon as it catches, release the starter, wait for it to fire by itself, then slowly bring it up to 4k rpm and hold it there til the temp guage is to the right of the square box.

Two things you need to keep an eye on. The brightness of the neutral light and the speed the engine turns over. If either fade, then your battery no longer has enough charge to start the bike. The battery should be reading 13+ volts when both terminals are disconnected from the bike.

It sounds like you have either flooded it (hydrolocked it), or done enough short journies to kill the plugs.

First thing to do tho is check the battery.

Thanks, I initially was thinking the cdi was at fault... but we'll try a better charged battery ( the one in the bike now is a bit flat) :violin:

This must be a Honda thing eh?Most of the Honda's I know of won't start unless the battery has got a real full charge.
