Never heard anything bad about them.
If size is important to you, check out the LAMS list of rides.
Plenty of bikes around for the long of leg.

would you compare it to a hornet as a body size?

They're a great bike, had one as my first. Revs out to 22,000 and makes about 40 hp. Will be a fun step up from your GN.

Cam chains and cam chain tensioners, never buy one with more than 70k on the clock unless you're the man with spanners. Buy a Hornet if you want a 250

Make sure the front brakes are OK. I rode three one day in testing for a bike for Mrs Oakie. Front brakes on each one were weak. Apart from that though ... seem to be a good enough bike. Peppy enough but I was unhappy because for my wife I wanted the 'woah' bit to match the 'go' bit.
I think they aren't actually a Kawasaki either even though they are under a Kawasaki badge. Suzuki-made and Kawasaki badged ... something like that?

No, I got it backwards. The Suzuki GSX250FX was a rebadged Balius. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_GSX250FX

Thats the Balius 2 I believe that was the snoozuki. The difference being the first one was monoshock, and the 2 was a twin shocker.
Used to have the first edition. Was a great little toy. Cam chain and tensioner replacement was less than $300 I believe at the time. Labour rates will have gone up a little since then though.
Saw 175km/h on mine once (ON A CLOSED ROAD).
