Pretty stoked. Got almost all the oxidized aluminum (forks and rear wheel) off. Trick was oven cleaner, careful that you don't get this nasty stuff on anything else, so cover those areas off when spraying it on, leave for about ten minutes and then use something like scotch brite or an abrasive pad to clean. Rinse off with water and polish up with autosol or something similar. Then  and enjoy the result, looks like new :2thumbsup

Yes oven cleaner works to remove tarnish from aluminium parts.....but the trick is to use lots and lots of water to remove all traces of oven cleaner before moving to the next step :2thumbsup
In a way, I've found using soapy Steelo with lots of neutral soap and water is actually quicker and safer in the long run...and this from a truckie with an 8 axle combination with all wheels blinged up. The secret ingredient is something called Purple polish and a neutral soap for the truckwash.

Will definitely give that a go mate. There's still some spots left here and there where I didnt wanna spray the oven cleaner. And yea, you do have to rinse with lots of water to get rid of all the residue. Cheers :niceone:

Oh, and Autosol is ok for a polish, but try mixing it 50/50 with kerosene. Easier to rub on and much easier to buff off too. Actually when we still used Autosol, I only roughly buffed it off and washed the rest off with neutral detergent. Comes up like a mirror shine anyway. Good luck :2thumbsup

Yup, the oven cleaner will fuck the alloy if you don't wash it off very carefully.
Uber fine grade steel wool and a decent alloy polish with a soft cloth, cotton or microfiber.
