I've got some promotional stuff from ACC to give to motorcyclists.

Surprisingly, they are actually useful.

I have wee tyre pressure gauges, and side stand pucks. Y'know, the ones you put down to stop your side stand from sinking into the grass, gravel or asphalt.

PM me your address and I'll post them out from work as time allows. I'm working over Chrissy and New Years, so will get the chance to sort them.

Warning : I'll be including brochures about www.rideforever.co.nz as well. If you don't want the brochures, don't ask for the promos.

Heads up. I'm only doing this when I'm at work.

I use the work mail system, coz it's work related.

Be patient. Our work mail system doesn't work at weekends or public holidays.

There's nothing in this for me but work, so please, if you're going to complain or grizzle about it, find someone else to grizzle or complaint to.

Ka kite and Donuts.

Lol. That reminds me of the case I saw on the Scambusters website where the Chicago Sherriff sent scratch tickets to wanted fugitives last known addresses.

As an added incentive, they had the chance "to win" a big screen TV but had to go to an airport hotel room to collect their prizes. Net result, 61 crims caught.

Sometimes a cigar is only a cigar. So said a famous psychologist when lecturing about suspicions that people have.

I'm not recording anyones address for work purposes. I hand write an envelope, put the puck, gauge and propoganda in and off it goes.

If your life is so full of cynicism and suspicion that you are almost certainly in close contact with Nicky Hagar, firstly, I'm sorry for you. Then I'm just over it.

No, I'm not trolling for peoples addresses to target, I'm just trying to do some good.

Of course, if enough of you let me know, I'll throw the whole lot in the bin, nobody wins, and suspicion has won the day.

At home now, to all who have PM'd me (27 so far) I'll get to your requests tomorrow as time allows.

Ever wonder why good people don't make an effort to try to do something decent? Because some folk just can't wait to have a go.

Spent 4 hours today at Little River, trying to promote the www.rideforever.co.nz training subsidies.

It went fairly well, spoke to lots of bikers, all quite positive.

Even with those who didn't have the licences they should have, and who got tickets. They are having to choose between a training session and paying the ticket, hope it's not too tough a choice.

Sour note at the end of the day when a bloke took offence that ACC has contracted one training provider, and he felt that I was promoting that training providers business while working for the gubbermint.

I was actually promoting rider training, mostly funded by ACC, and I couldn't GAF about who provides that training. As it happens, ACC have contracted providers. Not my fault, but I got an earful about it.

It's the leftover promo stuff from the checkpoint that I'm posting out. I'd rather it went to riders than sat in a box under my shared desk.

The rant I got from the last bloke has left me feeling like it was a bad idea, trying to promote training. Just a feeling. I think that on balance it was great, but I'm feeling a bit down about it.

Problem is, I GAF. Sure life would be easier if I didn't.

About more than donuts.

It's true isn't it? you can't give it away. I knew there would be at least one fuckwit who had to complain. Probably didn't have a job or a bike and couldn't afford the 50 sovs for the training or he's a rival trainer to Dan O. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Now watch someone ruin this by bringing in the truth!

Got what you're giving away at my last ACC subsidised course thru the local council. Good on you for not residing on planet DILLIGAF, your profession alone is thankless enough at times.

The whole training topic is a heated one at times, irony being that those who need it most are often the most resistant to enrolling in training of any kind...

i just wonder, because quite often the shoe has been on the other foot. i'm all placid and trying to discuss the finer points of law, while the officers (even a sergeant, no less, but he must have been about 14 so i don't know who's dick his daddy sucked...) are getting twitchy fingers near tasers and batons... 'de-escalate' or 'discuss' are foreign concepts.

i don't think anyone does. wire makes a particular kind of mess, and if it's been a couple of days... certainly not an enviable part of your job, but is it really? i'm fairly sure suicide is illegal, but you can't charge a carcass...

although, shoplifters i could vent a bit of frustration on quite happily.

Amusing time, addressing envelopes to usernames.

I just hope when they arrive and get uplifted from the mailbox by someones mum, that mum knows who the addressee is

I managed a wry smile at those who asked for things, but didn't give me an address. DOH !!!

Just a question on the course you promote.

The ACC funding is all through three training providers nationwide. They used to use a lot more trainers, but decided to go with just three this year. It was through a tender process, anyone could apply, and he won. Dan has the majority of the South Island. He's the only one that gets the ACC subsidy AKAIK. I'm not involved in his company or business at all, so it doesn't concern me how it all works.

I just promote the www.rideforever.co.nz training, and it links to his company. Not my choice, theirs. I don't care how it's arranged, as long as someone is doing it.

That said, some local authorities i.e. Councils, have Road Safety Co-Ordinators who channel NZTA funding into training, so it'd be worth your while contacting your local council to see if they have any such arrangement down there. Ask to speak to their Road Safety Co-Ordinator.

Other option is to take a 3 day vacation to attend one of Dan's courses.

Hope this helps.

Lol! I was going to edit Kickaha's post about battoning, tazering him and setting a dog on him to "and setting scumdog on him".

I think that would come under "Cruel and Unusual Punishment" He'd be better off taking his chances with the dog

Hey RC, I have had a bike lie down a couple of times after the stand went through the earth's crust ... so puck me too!

You're not the bike popo with then beard are you? See him regularly on on commute on Port Hills Road/Centaurus Road. Must be a happy hunting ground?

Facts :

I'm not the Popo with the scurs.

He was best man at my wedding.

He works for me i.e. I'm his boss.

He's not to be trifled with. Stop at stop signs, wear your seatbelt and don't use your cellphone while driving, and you'll be fine.

He's written the most seatbelt tickets in Canterbury each year for the last decade or so.

That's why I want him working for me.

I'm stuffed then. My bike has no seatbelt.
Actually he's not even turned his head in my Bandit's direction in all the times I've passed him going the other way so I must be doing something right. I even give him a respectful wave. Oh God. I've made it a waving thread. Sorry...

Despite what some say, we dont target bikers. There's just not enough of them to worry about. Seriously.

I learned when I was just a yoof doing dumb shit in Oamaru that the bike popo were actually pretty good people who were just as interested in educating me as giving me fines for aforementioned 'dumb shit'.

Hint: It ain't the middle finger. Unless you really want to chat :-)

Mate just dislocated his middle finger - currently has a metal brace holding it in the FO position. Apparently improves the clarity of communication.

Sorry Y'all, I've now posted out the last of the promo stuff I had.

They went into the mail this morning, so any further requests will be a sad "no".

Awesome to get some many requests.

Cheers

Have replied to some, but the forum has a time limit between posting PMs, so it's taken too much time.

For sure, I remember posting yours.

Thanks mate. My belated Chrissy gifts arrived today. I was wondering who the hell was sending me dodgy stuff in a brown envelope. Mummsie will be stoked with her puck as well. I told the old man that because it has a hole in it, she can use it as a key ring. Let's see if she tries. :)

Don't worry about the Tyre Pressure gauge, on the way to Tauranga last night I got pulled over for a Motorcycle Safety Check near Matamata, all good and got a free digital tyre pressure gauge & lens cloth for my troubles.
