It's always a bonus to know you're going to make the next gas station, especially if you're travelling at night and most are shut.

What he said - just buy it, you deserve it.

I'd think it was better than the 600 - same size bike, bigger grunter engine that in day to day use will rev lower than the 600 to get the same effort.

Feck I'd tap one then make it naked!

Funny I never actually check the bike. But thinking about it I do the same run every Sunday if its fine, Kapiti to Martin/B (about 200 kms return). Always costs about 23-24 dollars.

Ermmm.nooo...just curious

Just that Boyds have the 08 750 in there that is in the same colour scheme as my 6. Be a pity not to look at it I reckon.

Vixen is in for service 6 Jan. I'll take sem fiddy out for a run then.

Then, no doubt, I will be looking for some way of embezzling funds from somewhere...or not.

Be interesting to read your opinion after owing the 600 for awhile now.For my money the 750 has to be up there for sportsbike on real roads of all time award.

With the current crop of 800's appearing Suzuki should give it a bore job and thrash the shit out of the comp!

Methinks left as a 750 it will still do that.

Concur. Top of a very short list of sprot bikes I think I could own happily. Read a multi test in performace bikes a few years ago, 1 7fiddly with the latest litre bikes. Test was in Scotland & the 750 was the go to bike. Jamie Whitham had to be pried off it for the ride home.

If i wasnt gettin on some i would have bought one a few years ago and gone nuts making it my own ie rims etc etc and called it a keeper.I have a good mate with one who has a tendency to embarrass most on anything over the pig route.

Almost the handling of a 600 & almost the performance of a 1000 with the ability to put it all to the road. What more could you ask for? I can think of a few things but it's moot. I can't ride fast for shit.

I wonder what it's life span will be the 600 is effectively the same bike now obviously without the extra 150 cc and that market has been suffering for a few years now.

Be nice to revive the 750's as a class. The magazines tend to drag the 750 out as a oddity now and then act surprised at how very very good it is!

It is due for a facelift model wise - be interesting to see if Suzuki will do so or just tart it out in different colours. I'd like to see them 'Ducati' it and bring out a limited edition decked out in carbon-fibre exotic metals, ultra light wheels and stunning deep deep black paint with very stealth graphics. Knock the shit out of most thous!

Magazines are followers of fashion....they have to be eh.Most mainstream bike magazines are little different than the junk mail stuck in your mailbox every day they just have the courtesy to be produced monthly.

a mate has a k8 and consistently gets 5 to 5.5l per hundy when pootling on long trips. Very economical machines with warp factor when required engines

i had the k7 750, sure they go better bla bla but the gixxer thou is much more of a bitch and if your up for a challenge, its more satisfying i can ride like a nana or do 190+ wheelies its so smooth , its a hell of a bike, fuel economy is the same for a 600 /750/1000 not much in it

I haven't ridden the later 750s but the effortless torque and flexability of the 05/06 Thou is great for this old fella at 64.
Sure you can turn the handle and its a rocket but the smooth low/mid range is what gets me. They don't come any lighter than this model either. (makes up for the 92 odd kilo rider).

I get about 5.5l/100km on the open road on mine, and about 7.5l/100km on my 8km each way commute to work in the city. According to some people on gixxer.com the 750 uses slightly less fuel than the 600 during everday riding as you don't have to use the throttle as much.

I had a k7 600-loved it. Got a k9 750-outstanding bike-dropped one tooth at the front-awesome. Just got a near new k7 600 and modified it with revalved suspension, pcv, akra,-1+2 on the sprockets.V focussed bike. 750 probably better on the open road but not such a fun wee bike as this. Fuel consumption on the 600 was shocking until I got a custom dyno tune into it.....

Uses less gas than my 8fiddly 2 pot. I should step into the light but the old & familiar would be sorely missed. An I don't thing a 7fiddly GSXR would be much chop on gravel. Need a bigger shed.

Choice site bro. Just signed up, seems pretty easy to track l/km, I usually just fillup and think nothing of it

I find it quicker and easier to note the odometer reading at each fill and work out consumption from there.

Average on the 600 is around 40 mpg (7 l/100km). It does depend on how crazy the ride is. On a long cruisy pootle down country it can get close to 50 mpg (5.65l/100km). On a twisty road it might drop to 38 mpg (7.4l/100km).

Some of the figures I read for the 750's seem optimistic to me given what the 600 manages. I doubt I'd manage to average 42 mpg somehow...

Yeah I just fill up once it gets low. My throttle management system is fried so my fuel consumption is a little high. I guess theoretically it should get maybe 250-300km to a tank, however I don't run it down to the reserve and referring back to the throttle management being pretty poor. Actually if it's an 18L tank and I'm say filling up 11-14L then there is still a good 4-7L left in the tank hmm

That seems very high, I am managing a consistent 5.5 - 6l/100km on the ZX6R and that's with quite a lot of spirited riding. Other 08 GSXR600's seem to average low to mid 5s.

They can't be trying hard enough...

EDIT: There could be a couple of reasons for this. I had the O2 sensor disconnected a while ago to stop the problems it caused at certain revs. This pushed the consumption up - not a lot but measurable. I also use the gearbox a lot and like to keep the revs high - where the powah is hiding....

Having said that, even on a long cruise, I only manage around 5.6 l/100km max.
