Hey all,
I don't know much about the LAMS system as I have a full licence, but is it as simple as "If the bike isn't on the list, it isn't approved" or is there separate criteria i.e power to weight ratio etc?
Reason I ask is I want to know if a VFR400R (NC30) is LAMS approved? The RVF400 is on the list which is a virtually identical motorbike, but the VFR isn't.
Thanks
Luke

If it's over 250cc it has to be on the list to comply. If it's under 250cc it's considered learner-legal unless specifically denied. There is a power/weight formula, and you can apply to have any motorbike that fits the criteria put on the list - they're apparently pretty quick about putting bikes onto the list.

RVF made the list because honda quoted its power at 50hp and the nc30 at 59. Unless you can get honda to quote less HP or a higher weight the nc30 will never make the list. There could be a case for taking the nc35 off the list though...
