My clutch slips under deceleration if my clutch cable is to loose, I now have preload on the cable instead of free play. It has once slipped under full power as well when the cable was loose.

So is that clutch plates or something else?

I have a track day this weekend so want to get it sorted.

while weak springs could give that symptom, id say not with a preloaded cable, theres just not enough meat to engage.
So says i.

Lie her down on tyres or an old couch, take of the side cover and have a look. The preload thing seems strange enough to warrant a look see, could be loose bolts or something.

Not sure what you had planned for the bike but all I wanted to do was check the clutch. :buggerd:

Well all looks real tidy in there and the plates and springs are in spec. So either the springs have gone soft or at some stage somebody ran car oil in it. But the clutch kits $180 so no big deal.

I would have thought car oil would have had the clutch slipping from day 1.

Were the old plates thinner or smooth? Were the old springs all tightened evenly?

I find your clutch problems interesting.

Plates look fine and half a mm from under spec. Agree on the car oil. Will be intresting to see the new plates.

I find it more a pain in the ass.

Check the length of the clutch springs as these can cause the problems you describe when tired/flogged.

Clutch all back together. Very easy job. Would be easier on a bike without Givi bars.

Interestingly the fibers measured the same as the ones that came out. Big difference was the springs which were 3mm longer and a lot firmer to compress. They say they are 10% stronger.

And There is way more adjustment left on the cable this time. guess we will see how the ride to work goes tomorrow.
