Hi All, has any one else got a DR650 with original 21 inch front wheel and tire and a trail tech vapor hooked up? Iv tried speed setting 2135 and 2095 and both are supposedly correct measurements but both give me an incorrect speed reading the 2095 was done rolling the bike with me on it, and the 2135 was from the measuring of the diameter of the wheel.

any input?

Measuring the OD of the tyre normally works fine but of course the measurement used will vary when running different sizes/manufacturers. The approach I use to setup the Trailtech unit is firstly set the OD measurement and then calibrate to a GPS @ 100kmph

Hi Matrox, Mines set on 2300 and its close enough for me. I still have the old speedo fitted so it was a simple matter of playing with the input codes until it matched.

Ive gone past cameras at 100 kmh and they haven't flashed at me. if you still have old speedo, hook it back up and tie it out to one side so you can see it and do what I did, It may be a different setting for your bike but its prob the easiest way to do it.

Good luck

Yeah normally, only for some reason im out from like 5-10 kmph, im wandering if i should need to do a reset everytime i change a major setting??

Something I have done in the past is if you see a cop parked up on the side of the road, stop and ask if he will do a radar speed check while doing a ride past, they normally more than happy to do it, At least you will know exactly what your speedo error is.

If it works like a bicycle speedo, which basically are then you should be able to change the wheel size at any time.

My bicycle speedo is 100% accurate to 199kph. I don't think they planned on cyclists going faster than that.
