hi, looking for a bike for my wife, saw the bike above for sale. I looked at some reviews and videos and its a pretty bland/average bike by the sounds of things, but she doesnt need flashy or fast, she wants to commute.

anyone have any experience on these?

Superb machines. About as exciting as porridge. Reliable, do big kms. Only your typical crap like wear and tear items and side stand switches AFAIK.

I'd own one, but I am not a self harmer.

yeah, pretty plain but very pleasant to ride...i was working in wgtn about 10 years ago and saw one quite cheap..bought it on the spur of the moment as a spare bike, taught a few people to ride on it etc low seat and an even torquey power..she could learn to love it mate

An ex lass had one. She loved it. Cheap in usual suzuki way but more than sum of parts, I quite liked it ( I mean, it's no RZ350), but ya know.

I'd be happy for Mrs Oakie to ride one. She's a workhorse ... not a show pony (the bike that is ... not Mrs Oakie).

When they came out in the mid 90's they became a popular couriers bikes. That's always a good testimonial.

I bought a 2002 model written off and repaired it. used it for a 55km daily commute for a while before flicking it on, I loved it.

I loved my one. It was my first 'big' bike and a great upgrade over the gn250 that I had at the time. I found the power levels to be a great balance between usable, manageable and fun. You could easily tour, commute, or take it for a quick blast through the twisties. It was a really well balanced bike and it was super reliable.

If I had the cash, I would love another 500. My GS500 was a really fun and usable bike.
