I'm a visitor to NZ and have been saving for an age now to buy a bike I'd be happy with. I have a K5 GSF650 back in the UK which I bough for GBP3000 back in 2007 with 9000km miles on the clock. The market seems quite different here. Even though its now 2014, if I wanted to buy a 2005 Suzuki Bandit, even with something like 40k on the clock it seems like I'd have to spend way way way more than $6000 which seem ridiculous because that bike would be worth no more than GBP1000 in the UK. So am I looking in the wrong places (www.motorcycletrader.co.nz & www.kiwibiker.co.nz) or do I just need to accept it's a lot more expensive to be a biker in NZ?
So far I've just been looking at private adds because dealerships are so ridiculously and unattainably expensive in the Queenstown area so if anyone has any advise I'd really appreciate it as I have family visiting soon who I promised I'd tour the South Island with.

One of the drawbacks to living at the bottom of the world Im afraid. Have you had a look on trade me? Buy sell and exchange comes out every 2 weeks. :2thumbsup
Think my nephew is selling his GSX-r1000 at the moment, but not sure what he wants for it.

Try Two Wheels in Aleaxandra. Only an hour away from Queenstown, and Graham normally has some pretty sharp deals. I think he has a GS1200SS there at a good price.

$6k is enough to buy a bike.
