crappy backfiring when coming to a stop on XR6,what would be causing this problem doctor?........exhast gaskets?

An air leak at or around the intake manifolds may be one cause of this

Or a bit lean, or the enricher diaphragm/circuit is playing up,or an exhaust/muffler air leak.
, or the idle mixture screw needs a tweak, or valve clearances are out.
Download/get a manual.

m8 had this on his coon ( classic 2000 ish) and it was a intake leak he replaced the gasket and hasn't had any problems since , saved gas too

Check the air filter is clean too....any troubles starting?

start it up and spray engine start around the boot/carb area, if it revs on her own then theres a leak.

thanks for all the tips-ill 'get aroundtoit' one day (prob when it stops) and let you know the cause of the riceies,until then she's all go otherwise-if it aint broke.................

NO Don't do that

If you have a leak, you will be running lean, and that's a great receipe for burning a hole in your piston
