He's been down the road of hard knocks, ridden bikes since way back, Likes the occasional ' smoke', Says he doesn't need much, and his two road vehicles are reg'd and wof'd.

'Living the dream'? That would be a nightmare to me. But then I'm a soft-cock with no mechanical skills and like fairly orderly surroundings.
Good luck to the chap if he's happy though.

Junk is all it is though, unlikely to ever get worked on and will be only any good for scrap

The chap is not homeless, not on any benefit. Has been here for 5 years, by choice. Not all the junk is his, He is probably happier than many, weighed down by morgages, etc. He works on a casual basis for local truckies and contractors.
Not my lifestyle, but he is quite content.

I'd say rats visit him more often than woman on a scale of 10000/1.
Space is good. But you don't have to be a grub to qualify for it.

Good on him. Just because you're conditioned to think you need to surround yourselves 4 walls and a white picket fence, and this guy isn't, doesn't make you any superior kind of person. No doubt he'd be an interesting dude to chew the fat with.
Personally I'd throw some of those vehicles away while there is still the option (not the Bedford!), but I really doubt he gives a flying fawk what anyone on here (or probably anywhere) thinks ;)
Also those surfboard seats are

Pretty tidy man-cave... tidier than some I've seen!
Oh, by-the-way, what's that big shed in the background for? Let me suggest... perhaps that's where he "lives".
Just how many of you "live" in your man-cave as opposed to "visiting" it?

Not going to get into a slanging match on this thread, but the chap ,Phill does live in the lean to. I wouldn't waste my time posting a made up story. The machines buried in the blackberrys belong to the farm, others belong to Phill. He was in an old caravan until it fell to bits. His is probably the roughest living conditions I have seen someone in, but he likes it. I asked him if I could post the photos here and he was quite okay about that.
The woolshed behind has a shower and a toilet, thats all. Phill sleeps on the couch, pays the farmer $75 a week, including power. When I was there yesterday, Phil cooked on the little wood burner, Everything into the wok. Was good eating. He's just bought a new Honda scooter ( less grief from the cops ) and the two of us plus one other are going to visit Waiheke island about the end of February.

I could live content like that.
Lets face it some of us will have to if we ever want to retire.

fair enough if thats how he wants to live,
but it looks like a bunch of stuff that could have been easily saved if looked after with a tiny bit of consideration, that is now most likely completely fucked.

Let's just hope his rent remains as reasonable after this lot have "improved" the property.
