I'd try one on the DR650 on rear tyre, not under too much stress.
The quality has come a long way, even truck ones last a reasonable time if looked after right.
The key is the original carcass being a good donor item...

I can't see why not on a low powered bike I guess. But then a SET of new tyres for my KLR is $Au165 fitted. Doesn't seem much point in re-cycling.

seems 100 dollar 18'' road tyres are getting harder to come by now and at 150 plus each being the average price im looking for an economicall alternative.......its only for a traily I roadride @90k max......I usually just buy whatevers going cheapest at the time-kings,chen shin etc,wof is key for me!

Yeah - like most price things it's a bit subjective. I had 5 years of $300+ rear tyres on my Buell that I could shag in 2,500km if I tried.
Now $160 for a set that last 7,000km seems like Christmas.

whoops yeah crunched the numbers after I posted. We prob wouldn't have enough to make the distribution and manufacture worthwhile.
