The old boys are still learning to like HD as opposed to over thirty years at Pukekohe and given that triumph NZ has taken half their practice away but one thing is for sure there'll be plenty of good racing next weekend, and in the evenings a few brews no doubt...
.
Ansteys not coming, Cam Donald is replacing him as Bruce is ill at the moment.

That's a bugger about Anstey, hope its not too serious. Could be cool to have a yarn to Mr Donald, even if he is an Aussie......

As I understand it there will be no track time for non competitive riders, might stuff Triumphs plans a little.
This old fart will take HD over Puke any day of the week

i think a lot of the old boys were set in their ways at Pukekohe, takes time for some to change but it looks like it's there to stay

The trees were nice, I heard MNZ have said no to 'track parades' following the pit lane exit crash at the BS last year.
I won my only ever race at Puke, not every day you see off a BSA Goldstar and Drainpipe Norton on a BMW :woohoo:

And the Posties are there too, the old boys must be doing it hard.

The MV classic was on the weekend at taupo. Pretty good turn out. The long track is really long on a classic racer, i think the pre war boys had time for tea and biccies on the way down the back straight.

This weekend should be good.

Nah, way to tough on their teeth , even dunked .

We were formed up on the dummy grid , waiting, waiting, waiting
A rider was about 30/40m back from the entry to the track on the front straight, the flag marshal kept waiving him on as he pushed ever so slowly , in the end they ran back down to him & pushed his bike while he hobbled along behind.
Cool, I hope I'm still doing it at that age , ooops hold on , that's next year

I see he is now working as a paper boy for The Dominion? They let him take the truck home, long drive to work.

Hit the nail right on the head there Volty :niceone:

They've even banned a real factory bike (albeit from behind the iron curtain) from racing with the replica ones in the "factory" class :Police:, just because they think they can get away with it .....and because it's not a Norton I guess :weird::spanking::tugger:

Really ? What is it ? i've said publicly for years that the Register is promoting false history....and playing fast and loose with the rule book too.

Tyler Lincoln would have to be happy with coming third behind Cameron Donald and Chris Swallow on a borrowed Manx Norton.
:woohoo:
1:18 on an old 500 single, a whole second faster than the old ES2 he normally rides.:innocent:

Pre 72 were grouped with Pre 89 Seniors, would have been better with the Pre 89 Juniors, so didn't bother taking the bike out for that.
Scratch races were good, not every day you get to play with an Aermacchi and a Vincent Grey Flash...awesome.

Results are a bit challenged at present for the classes I have looked at. Some names are missing, some known finishers are showing as DNF and vice versa. Wouldn't pay too much notice of lap times at times as some seem a bit slow compared to how the bike and rider combo normally goes...

Really ? What is it ? i've said publicly for years that the Register is promoting false history....and playing fast and loose with the rule book too.

A Jawa 557 that was built for ISDT and moto-x that has been raced in that class for 12 years. I was approached about 3 or 4 years ago (I started with the Register in '81 on a Jawa) and asked why it was entered in that class, told them that the way in which the rules where worded allowed it to be elliglable and they left it alone untill it won championship status...suddenly the 'tecnical commitee' deamed it neccessary to add the letters "G.P." to the rules in which case they deemed it un-elligible...Sucks IMO...Scambles or Moto-X was also referred to as G.P.'s up untill about '65 so it should still be ellible even by their 'One Sided New Rule Wording'. Needless to say I haven't finished with the subject yet :bleh:

Yes, I see your point....FWIW, I think it would still be eligible in CAMS. I have heard there are some remits coming through the system which may help....The Register will have to cut it's cloth according to the rule book if the desired closer relations with NZPC's and CAMS happens. The only reason they get away with the supp regs they do have is because their meetings are "closed to club" ie members only.

The first thing to go has to be any eligibility committee - run to the book, period.

I've been to two AGM's, not much gets discussed on there, and when it was suggested about including bikes later the 1976 that was shot down...reminded me of an 80's Union Meeting really.

Seen that many times in several clubs....The only way to achieve change is to go in to the AGM with a full slate of candidates lined up.

it can take some time to get the old guard who are resistant to change out of office - but it can be done.

No classic club can remain static. just to keep an active club requires attracting new members - who will inevitably be younger and have an interest in younger bikes too....IMO the CAMS setup in the SI where one club caters for everything from vintage to pre 89 gives a broader membership base and thus a more secure future for the club....
