Hi all. I'm looking at getting a cruiser as i'm not getting any younger.
Anyone own a XV1100? I'd appreciate any feedback about this particular model.

Yes an XVS1100

Done about 16,000 kms now. Never had a problem, starts every time.

They do seem to rev quite high and I am sometimes searching for another gear but cant really fault it apart from that.

Anything in particular you wanna know ?

my budget was low and chose a 91 xv1100...once i sorted the carbs/balanced them and the rec/reg she's been a sweet ride...i love the scale of her as she's not by any stretch a full sized beast but with plenty of power for cruising long distance and nimble enuff for commuting...tho being air cooled i do worry sometimes about her over heating on the slow hot days...being a shafty theres no worry with chains or belts...and when everythings wrapped up in good tires i've never had a drama with road stability...
all in all i love my wee beast - the black dog -
with my son on the back we recently squeezed out a trip around the central north island for a week and she never missed a beat...
their quiet in the exhaust and the choice of 22mm bars is limited if your budget sucks like mine does...
on the down side...oil and filter changes require the partial removal of too many pieces and you'll need several sized bolt thingos to complete the task...the air filter if its oem is a shite paper one (i made my own with some air filter sponge and used the plastic carcass of the original...it's sweet now and cheaper than a k'n version)...
so jump on one and take it for a spin if you can...the 91 is probably heavier than it needs to be but the low seat height makes it cool at the lights...
good luck and let us know what you do...and remember if you can't afford the one you love; love the one you ride...
