...yeah...I wouldn't mind having my first bike back...it didn't have a name though...although in saying that, every bike I've ever own could have mistakenly thought their names were... fukya, usually preceded by their first name of, c'mon...

We name all our bikes, there's the SV, the ninja, my bucket, your bucket, the DR the RS... The list goes on.

No need for anything else as far as I can see, when we only had one bike it was referred to as the bike.

They have occasionally been referred to as you steaming pile of crap.

I've only had the current bike a week but I think it's name is going top be 'Youfuckin'thirstybitch' ... well on gas up days anyway.

Judging by the way my Busa burns thru tyres I'm considering calling her Kenworth...just gotta talk the accountant into fiddling the books a little to accommodate that entry :killingme

Once you've had a few bikes the names will become the same...the wife calls her mistress and the mistress will call her your girlfriend :innocent:

Still establishing the commute consumption as I've not done a fill up without some open road work. Last fill had about 80km open road and 90km coummuting for 14.88km/l. I was used to about 17.5 on the Bandit.

"Good old beast" when it goes, "Yamacunt!" When it doesn't. To it's credit its been fantastic, haven't called it the latter for quite some time now, not since I had it in bits and cleaned it all up (now its filthy again and yet running strong!).

still talking bikes?? or their other pastimes :spanking:

most names given come from the varying forms of psychological warfare that transpires between rider & machine ;)

The same people probably have a nickname for their old fella. Slayer or Excalibur would be my guess.

Well no, but that's why I convert to kms/L. A litre in the bandit took me 17.5 km and a litre in the GSR took me 14.8km.

I call my 79 XS1100 exsessive, its just that in many ways....
I call my 80 XS1100 "pocket change" because that is all I paid for it, $20.
I call my Keeway 250 "putter putter bike" apt when you think of what it sounds like and its performance ability.....

I think that naming bikes is an extravagant waste of nouns.

Seems like you're a bit above the average in terms of consumption according to fuelly: http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/suzuki/gsr600
In saying that, there is massive variation in that list!

fits the bike, two 800cc pistons traveling all but 4 inches stroke, designed so you 'feel' the motor, shudders and shakes at tickover, and definitely 'pulses' when you open the throttle.....

that which smashes.... got fillings? they're gonna rattle loose :laugh::laugh:

Well, it seems the consensus is it's a bit gay to name your bike, but I've always named mine because they're special to me and I'm a bit weird :bleh:

My Blue Daytona was called Sonic, then my white Street Triple was called Casper and now my SuperDuke 990r is called Duchess ('coz she's a lady heh :msn-wink:) I think as a biker you do form a special connection with your bike, spending a lot of time together and relying on the machine to keep going and not let you down (or throw you off).

Dobbin

Mine is Dobbin, after the traditional name for a carthorse, because it works hard and is reliable.

I have a friend who swears that naming your vehicle saves on maintenance costs. Her theory is that after you name it then you humanise it, and then take better care of it. Seems to have worked for her.

My bike is Lupo, short for il Lupo, or the wolf, because it is Italian, grey, has remus pipes and growls like a wolf. Also the teenage metaller nerd in me likes the idea of riding on a wild grey wolf - hair blowing in the wind and baying at the moon. Yeah... nerd.

Mao. The Chinese word for cat.

She's a PMS'ing cat. Does what she wants. Wants affection when she wants it. Is vocal and loves the attention.

(The bike not the rider!!) :p
