So I went up to Chch womans hospital to visit my sister who had a baby last night which in itself must have been quite stressful for her, complications resulted in an unplanned c section.
After a quick visit to see the new bubs (didn't want to stay too long as my car was parked in a secluded carpark and I was worried about it being broken into) I saw my brother in law standing on the side of the road after leaving the hospital half an hour earlier so I called him and found out some fuckin asshole had stolen his car from Oxford Tce.
The car had only third party insurance as it was just a cheap old Bluebird which isn't ideal but not the real drama (they can have my car, I'll just use my bike to get around). The car contained the gear for the new baby (car seat etc) as well as their other childs car seat and the push chair and a ton of other stuff.
What kind of low, thieving cunt steals a car from out front of a hospital with that kind of thing inside. If I find this prick I'm gonna rip his fucking balls off.
If anybody around chch sees a mid 90s marone colored Nissan bluebird dumped anywhere please PM me, I will get the rego, year and see if I can find a photo and will edit this post to include them.
Edit: According to the internet it is a U13 model (built between 1991 and 1996) and is the same model and color as the one in the attached picture (which isn't the actual car, just a pic I found on google images) The rego is RU6284. If you see it please pm me, I really want to catch up with the piece of shit that took it.

Bastards, I know first hand what a pain in the arse it is to have a car stolen complete with kids car seats and assorted other useful things.
Will keep my eyes open...

That's why I left a bottle of vodka in the glove box when I used to own a car. For the new recipients if it was ever stolen.
Luckily for the thieves it was never stolen. The vodka had quite a bit of methanol in it.
Paying it forward, so to speak.
Congrats to the family and all the best with your vigilantism.

Are they over 25? Do they need a car to borrow in the mean time? I have one sitting here I won't need for a few weeks (catch is it is 4 hours away from Chch).

Thanks so much Willie, fortunately plunket is providing a replacement capsual and they already had an extra car seat so they have everything they need at the moment in regard to what was in the car.

Thanks so much for the offer, I did give them my car for the meantime although my car is not ideal (it's a Toyota Levin and really not big enough for them) would yours be more suitable? Otherwise it would probably be possible to swap my car with a friend from work for his Magna wagon.

It's a diesel sedan. I'd go for the Magna (station wagons are awesome) but if that falls through it is here and will be easier to manage than a coupe (I believe you have/it is best to have the baby seat in the front for the first year or something? Hatch would be a right pain for that!)

If they have contents insurance that may cover the contents of the car too. Car insurance certainly doesn't cover the contents of a stolen car. Might be an option to get something back...

There are some professional bastard thieves around Chch
My lad has just had his (locked) bicycle stolen from outside Pioneer Pool.
Poor lad is quite upset, he paid for most of it himself, he's had it less than six months, and had customised it to suit.
The bike was a BMX style with custom green over white paint -easily recognised - but I dont expect we will see it again :(
Its probably best I don't get my hands on the perps, as a charge of Assault or GBH would be more than likely.

Sorry to hear about your sons bike, unfortunately this kind of shit happens all the time. When I was a kid I had 3 bikes stolen at various times in various places as well as one car about 10 years ago and my house has been robbed 3 times with them taking various amounts of stuff. The thieving pricks were never caught for any of it.
Have you got a pic of the bike, post it here. Maybe someone will see it.

dont worry, all the police are out on the road, so at least you can ride safely now that all those dangerous people have been given infringement notices.

Repeat offenders should have something of theirs stolen, like their balls or hand. That will teach them a lesson.

Ooooooor leave a bottle of methanol tainted vodka in the glove box or by your laptop (or other expensive items). Best $40 anti theft device you will ever buy. You will actually laugh when it gets stolen.

Yeah that actually would be awesome, or "coke" laced with cyanide.
Another thing that could work is what we did in South Africa. Kaffirs would keep stealing our porch lamp, so my old mans mate who was a sparky rigged it so when you touch it, you get a big shock. Literally. So one day, some kaffir came along and tried to steal it. The porch lamp never went missing again. Something similar could work on a vehicle.
But still, it fucking sucks how these thieves get more or less rewarded for their behaviour, and the general public aren't even allowed to defend our property with force. In SA we'd all be packing heat, so one could legally bust a cap in some niggas (or wiggas) ass if they're a threat, just like in the good old USA.
Better yet, try these: 2005 anti autotheft devices (http://web-beta.archive.org/web/20120521131811/http://www.stickdeath.com/2005auto.html), or the 2003 version. (http://web-beta.archive.org/web/20120508212019/http://www.stickdeath.com/2003auto.html)

So far no progress on finding the car, although I fully expect to find it burned out somewhere in the next few days. There has been a story written up in the Herald (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11202519)

Still no word on the car but I have learned there were some items in the car with significant sentimental value and passports in amongst the things in the car. All of which I would imagine have been destroyed our sold by now which is disappointing but there have been quite a few generous offers including Willy and Tazz in this very thread and a very generous donation by Cockram Nissan in response to the article printed in todays Press.
So thank you to all who offered to help in any way, and please keep an eye out for the car, I'd still like a "chat" with those who stole it.
Also an article showed up on stuff today as well (here (http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/9729006/Just-as-panics-over-someone-steals-their-car)) some of those who comment there seem to be complete asses.

Were there no cameras in the area? I'm really liking Hayden's idea now...
Will keep my eyes open for the Bluebird up here, just in case.
There are really some uncaring idiots posting some of the comments on the Stuff article. Karma's a bitch, guys.

Unfortunately the car still hasn't been found and we've all given up hope of seeing the heirlooms that were in it at the time.
I am seriously considering the idea of tainted vodka, but where would I stash it on my bike?
I would be amazed if they were dumb enough to take it on the boat up north but if they did surely they would have been caught on camera somewhere.
The comments on the stuff article were quite stressful for my bro in law to read. But as you said karma may catch up to these people.
On the plus side Cockram Nissan, Harcourts and Miles Toyota all made generous offers of cash, discounts and loan cars and Stadium Cars has actually gifted them a car as well. The generosity of people and businesses in Christchurch has been amazing and more than canceled out the actions of the fucking prick that took the car in the first place. (although it'd still love to get my hands on him)

This thread is very upsetting ... please, "go to the police and report these crimes" :Police: Apparently that is all that is required and justice will be served! :killingme
I have been listening to that for 74 years, so it must be true!
Edit: Justice refered to is the bit beyond the police where the police always seem to get let down!

The car has been found!!!
Actually my brother in law got a call from the cops on Wednesday saying where the car was (in a mobility park on the opposite side of the hospital). They must have got an attack of the guilts, it had been parked there since atleast Saturday, since it was in a mobility park there were a few fines on the windscreen.
Visibly undamaged, even the locks were undamaged and pretty much everything in it seems to be accounted for but judging from driving it and its new oil leaks it got the thrashing of its life while they had it.
We went straight from finding it to Stadium cars (where they were due to pick up their new car) and explained the situation and they decided to go ahead and give my sister the new car anyway due to the mechanical state of the bluebird and the fact they only had one car for the family to begin with.
Thanks for your support and offers of help, my sister and her family really appreciate it, it is good to see that its not all assholes in this world. After the shock and inconvenience of the car being stolen in the first place all is okay now.

its funny, because you call parking wardens nazzis when theyre doing the same job, enforcing crown policy,
but the stasi are somehow exempt.

And, yep, I know them as parking nazis due to their "zero tolerance" policy, their charging regime, which is more expensive than police infringements and their direct " out to get you" attitudes which most police don't have.
I'd much rather deal face to face with a cop than have somebody sneaking round issuing tickets.
As for the "pork baton", na fella. I'll leave that to you:yes:

Judging by the fines on the windscreen it was sitting there for 5 days before the cops told us about it which is more or less the efficiency I expect from the nz police.
It wasn't in a private carpark, on Rolleston Ave there are 3 mobility parks on the road near the back entrance to the hospital, it was in one of those.

probably lucky it did get fines, it was likely a computer that cross referenced and made the link.

Seldom do Police do "parking infringements" ... :shifty:
The fine tickets were most likely Council Parking authorities ... and Police probably became aware after some Do-gooder (with a mobility card) complained to Police about it being parked there for so long without being towed ... :corn:

I'd say it was more likely they were getting ready to tow it and checked the rego against known stolen vehicles (I'm guessing the tow company would have checked because if it's stolen they won't get their tow fees).
Not too worried about the fines anyway, I would expect they can be canceled just by showing the police report to prove it was stolen. Even it they don't cancel the fines, a couple hundred bucks to get the car and all the other shit back is a bargain.

Great to hear the car and everything in it has been found. And that Stadium Cars still gives them a car is pretty awesome!
I just wonder how it is that the traffic warden database is not connected to the stolen car database. It's all digital, so how can it be that the stolen car hasn't raised any flags after the first ticket?

Glad it has worked out good for them in the end bro. Good of Stadium Cars to still give them the car :niceone: If they don't need two cars I hope they are in a position to do something nice and pay it forward by giving the recovered one to another family or a cause in need :)

As an employer of a former parking warden you are a pot calling the kettle black spouting this crap. An officious prick is an officious prick whether they are a cop, parking warden or bus driver. Job's got nothing to do with it essentially. If I was a parking warden and you came up to me in a huff I'd ticket the crap out of you too, which I'm assuming has been your experience in the past XD
The parking warden in this case possibly thought they were doing someone a favour not getting them towed straight away...how rude.
