The rear tyre is a Michelin Pilot Power. It has done around 600km since new. The front tyre is a Michelin PP3. It has done around 1,000km since new. Both tyres had their first track day yesterday, and I want some opinions on the tyre wear based on the pics. For the track, I put 31psi (cold) in the rear, and 32psi (cold) in the front. Usually on the street I run 38/36 rear and front, respectively.

I do wash it sometimes, but it's just going to get another maggot infestation next time I ride it out to Akaroa anyway. The brake dust from the track day doesn't help either.

If you have a raised area on either the leading or back edge of the tread, this is a strong sign that rebound damping on the forks or shock is set either too fast or too slow. Usually if it's on the leading edge rebound is too slow, and if it's on the back edge it's too fast.
Suggest a little more rebound on the rear....

Looks ok to me. Be easier to tell if you were pushing a bit and leaning it over. Hehehe.

Did you go round any corners or was this on a drag strip?

I was doing circuits around Ruapuna. I wasn't pushing it hard because I'm still a n00b and don't feel like crashing. I'm just after feedback from more experienced track day riders regarding my tyre pressures and suspension setup, based upon the pics.

Most people who know these things, would need to have a bounce on the bike to best advise on what to do.
I'd say go up a couple PSI in the rear next time is the only advice I have.

I actually wouldn't mind having a "good" rider, ideally a racer who also has a fair bit of road experience to have a go on my bike at Ruapuna and make adjustments from there. I'll try 33psi on the rear next time and see if it feels much different.

Oi. I had to go get a whole new set of leathers to look good cause when your this slow people have time to see you go by so it pays to look ya best

Generally speaking i think alot of people run too low pressure on track on road tyres thinking they act the same as race tyres

Dunno about the 600, but the SRAD750 is the only bike that Ohlins have ever made a new 'dogbone' linkage for. The rate of change was that bad on them...Maybe worth looking into to see if the 600 is as bad.

Getting someone else to ride your bike to set it up will do 5/8th s of fuck all. It will set the bike up how they ride it not to how you ride it

Shame you didnt know that Dave Moss was a few garages down from you. I think Drew is right-looks fine considering you were riding sensibly. Would have been a bastard to drop the bike considering the time and $$$ you have put into it.

Dave moss is great value. We are working on some off track seminars at ours which is great for getting a starting point for setting up

I would suggest that your rebound damping is not set correctly. There appears to be a triangular pattern of wear on the side of your tyre from where the rubber is moving around/being worn and then it looks to clean up a little bit, almost in triangular in shape. imagine drawing a zig zag around your tyre where the tip of the triangle is toward the centre of the tyre. According to dave moss videos this means the tyre is skipping hence the uneven wear. Although its pretty hard to tell from the pics and it depends if your sag etc has been set up and your boingers are in good condition and serviced. See dave moss videos on you tube. He set up my bike last year.....what a difference!!! I had similar wear issue on my new bike initially and increased the rebound damping which cleaned the tyre up and settled the bike a lot more. But, dont take my word for it, get an expert to look at it and dont be afraid to adjust things yourself.
do lots of reading, relax on the bike and feel what its doing. if it feels like its out of control and bouncing all over the place then do somthing, if it feels fine, leave it alone. there are some guidelines but its all personal preference.
If i recall corrctly, if there is a build up of rubber on the trailing edge of the tread, like in your pics, there is not enough rebound damping, if its on the leading edge, theres too much.( i stand corrected though as im a bit pissed right now) go watch the dave moss videos.
