latest addition to my collection of broken bikes is a

91 NSR 250R MC21 (derestricted), had it for a day before it heat seized on me on the way to manfield on sunday.

top chamber is fucked / piston got a wee hole in it and the bottom piston is moving around a bit to much.

so does any body know ......

if a mc28 engine will bolt in and/or if there will be any problems with electrics (swipe card vs key)

if the engine will not bolt right in and/or there are ignition problems with a newer engine, will the barrels, pistons, rings be compatible with the MC21 bottom end

if anyone has a got a motor (any nsr model) sitting in there garage for me, with good barrels

cheers

mike

You're having a bad run with bikes at the moment, he said in a blindingly obvious manner.

Mikey, find yourself a friend (easier said than done) that works in a Honda dealership. Our mate Sparky Bills'd be a goodun. Get them to check the part numbers between the different years for barrels, pistons and rings. This'll obviously tell you what will fit and what wont.

How about you quit working for Aunty Helen and save up for a really flash bike to trash next? (pt) :wait:

honda dealer won;t tell ya shit , there is nothin in english for the nsr , barrels will swap but port timing is little bit crappy on mc28 , fuck all in it tho , whole motor never tried it , shud work , will need to swap all the lectrics with the 21 stuff tho , flywheel as well, cause the 28 has crappy timing any probs you can give me a call on 03 5470674 for advice , loads of experrience on 21's , not much on 28's cause they are crappy, but any nsr is better than anything else , specialy rgvs

motormarts advice is to talk to someone who races them, bit better than honda dont make two strokes,

rung around most wreckers in north island an none got ANY engines, so i think i will have to do the 28,
one problem im not sure about is the derestrictor, my 21 is derestricted and cant find any manuals on the web to show what wiring diagrams.
would the way to do it be rip the chambers an pistons out of new engine an put in old engine?

like any cool cunt, jesus etc, im resurrecting this thread.

does anyone know (FOR SURE) as in they have done it themselkves or just real smart an stuff if,

a mc28 engine will bolt into my 21 frame and/or if there will be any problems with electrics (swipe card vs key)

nsrpaul
6th September 2005, 21:51
like any cool cunt , I have a nsr
there will be heaps of probs electrics wise , they are not interchangable, best to use the mc21 electrics , the motor should be ok but change the flywheel and stuff to the 21 gear , prob best to use 21 carbs to , as they are different and not sure if the throtle position sensor is the same
whats more will make more power with mc21 electrics cheaper

As a smart cunt, I reccommend you fix the old engine.
2x Pro-X pistons and rings, get an engineer to tidy the heads, if you have the cash, replate the barrells, what's the problem?

Definately call Ricky Porter, he rebuilt mine a few times (sold it though). My old website had info etc (www.nsr250sp.com) try my new site for info: www.simjen.com
Rick knows his shit for sure, a thoroughly good bloke who won't mess you around.
Often gets spares etc too.
