View Full Version : Thread dredges?

Is there a way for someone to mark posts, that are older than say 12 months, in a different colour? Perhaps the title?
It would stop some of us from supplying information on a thread that can be 3-4 years old.
There is a newer element here that dredges posts up regularly, sometimes with no useful information at all.
Sometimes the dredge is relevant, but this seems to be a minority.

Read those little serial numbers at the top of the post (looks like 10-5-2005).
Gives it away a bit.

I'd rather see a few thread dredges than nubies asking the same old questions again, and again, and again...

And how often do you read the full details of when a thread was started?

This is true. But a different colour in the title, may highlight the fact that the thread is older.

Why does it matter if a thread gets dredged?
Gives us new people here a chance to catch up on some interesting reads we might have missed otherwise.
Anyway, I think there should be a list of epic kb threads somewhere. The fast, smooth and safe one should be in there, too.

Sometimes you just can't win. Ask a question via a new thread and you get told ''use the search function''. Use the search function and reply to a thread that was started two years ago and you get told ''holy thread dredge batman''
Me personally, I don't give a shit, I will start a thread for my own benefit, easier to look back on when ever you need to.

It was. And has been for years.
But it seems sometimes when an update is done, it un does the NSFW setting.
Sorry.

That's a bit harsh. Some racists are inherently smart, in most subjects excluding the question of race like.

Equality is not racism, separatism is racism, the Bill of rights is supposed to protect my right from racial discrimination, yet the government have contradictory legislation which directly invades on my rights.
I'm not racist, I don't immediately judge people based on the colour of their skin, I don't single out any race or exclude any one race from any part of my life, I don't give a shit if your skin is fucking purple. I do give a shit though if the special colour of people are treated as the superior race, and get special treatment and benefits.

I kinda like thread dredges...for they are like women, get better with age.
No actually it's funny to see that, for the most part, the same shit gets discussed over and over.
Can we get points for bringing up old threads? Must be about time for a poll on old threads?

Irony is a woman singing a song about irony, and getting all the examples wrong.
Irony is a motorcyclist riding safely above the speed limit and once the police decided he was being unsafe, pressured him to go an unsafe speed and crash. Speed kills, unfortunately the speed limit seems to kill more.

I'd agree with the premise of colouring the old threads.
if there was say an old thread say that one missed in the way newbies are prone to miss in excitement, and in its over 10 pages there was one piece of information that sat amongst the bickering... it might be mighty easy to miss.
Just saying, thread dredge is nigh inevitable.

Drew may have meaning the female who was singing Reckless and sung the line 'she don't like, the fat cow in the hay yard' instead of 'she don't like, that kind of behaviour'

It seems to fit so I thought he might have meant this:
An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
Isn't it ironic, don't you think
[Chorus]
It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought, it figures
Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids good-bye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well, isn't this nice."
And isn't it ironic,l don't you think
[Chorus]
Well, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face
A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic, don't you think
A little too ironic, and yeah I really do think
[Chorus]
Well, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
And life has a funny way of helping you out
Helping you out.
