Anyone have any FACTUAL knowledge of what the fault is with these units? I have 2 that I probably won't be able to have replaced as I have no VIN numbers of the donor bike. Suzuki won't tell apparently. Obviously,, if they fail without warning,,,I'd love to know..

Rob - don't get a twisted version of the factual info, get thee to your local Soozie shop, they will give you the good oil. I know EXACTLY what it says, 'cos I've gone and checked, but have no ambition to give the mouse-jockies any fodder over an issue that has potential to be blown out of all proportion

A few on the TL site overseas who like myself have fitted GSXR front ends to TLs are trying to ascertain the real risk of this thing failing but not much luck so far.Suzuki are not interested if i cant provide the numbers etc.Methinks i have far more chance of becoming an ornament on the front of a Maui camper.:niceone:

From that link, it appears that a very small number of people who have been lazy with their maintenance are suffering from spring failures, probably due to corrosion weakening them. Fun fact, Morris Minors are the only thing I've found where this is a serious problem. Strip, clean, inspect, put it from your mind.

Yeah, they need to know a VIN in order to identify whether your M/Cyls are within the potentially affected range Rob - I understand your frustration:rolleyes:

This campaign is a preventative measure - I wont quote it here, that's not my function - but as with ALL the big players, when there has been instances of a sub-optimal performance from a part, it is simply replaced to prevent more customer issues

Check again with your shop - they should be able to allay your concerns mate

Sounds about right ? do this or use your Vin. Mine was good but replaced anyway.

DONT MOCK THE MORRY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crap brake hardware made even crapper by hiding it in the dampest, most out of the way spot the bloody Poms could design - sorted mine with the obligatory brass sleeve, and of course put the bloody bolts back in arse-about-face, so the bastard rattled its tits off ......... Aaaaaah, the good old days

This is the most Suzuki has said

Suzuki GB's Denis Houston said: "Investigations into reports of the front brake lever developing a ‘spongy’ feeling over time have revealed the cause to be moisture naturally absorbed by the brake fluid, affecting the return spring inside the master cylinder. As the braking system is safety critical and there are no external indications that corrosion of the spring has begun the brake master cylinder assembly is to be replaced free of charge."

Mine would do this only when I was at the track. It was never a sudden thing but gradtuly got worse over the day.
When I had it in Haldane's they said they couldn't find anything wrong but changed the brake shoes. it never came back after that.

Mine is part of the recall so I'm happy to get it done for free but i probably would get it changed as matter of course as I had brake problems.

The information I received was that it was only certain GSXR models,Shouldn't affect your Pro Twins bike,Still you'd think Suzuki would be only too happy to offer atleast that info,Have you tried calling Steve at the tech dept at Suzuki NZ ?

Just ask your local Suzuki Dealer - they have ALL the info at their fingertips

The only issue is when you don't have a VIN, 'cos the m/cyl is off some unknown bike ......
if in ANY doubt, kit the thing and be done with it

My bike was part of the recall - I just had it swapped at the last service. Free, gratis and for nothing. Not that I ever had a problem with the brake anyway...
