hmmm.. just got a "courtesy" call from MoJ concerning a unpaid fine that I received awhile ago in the cage.... :violin:

Never got one of these before.. so whats up? are they trying to get all these unpaid fines in?

Was also kindly reminded that if I dont pay ontime I'll get a $100 "bonus" added to the fine.. or a court summons.. or they will remove property.. yadda. :violin:

Interesting, he didn't mention the recent speeding fine I got the other week (gah.. need to ring up the council to see when they changed that zone from 70k to 50k, yeah I know it was my fault :dodge: for not "looking" at the signs, but the kind police officer was adamant it was changed 5 years ago :nono: .. and I'm certain it wasn't!).. anyways.. I just thought it was rather strange getting a Courtesy call from the Ministry of Justice...

Maybe they will do it just for you and realise that the phone calls are costing precious money. Then they too will have to have a petrol tax

I think the deal is that the fines are intially payable to the local courts (hence why they didn't mention the recent one) but after a period of time has lapsed, the collection duties go to the courts, who add $30 for the trouble of calling you. They then call you incessantly.

Apparently .

Not that I'd know, of course!

...
When I came back from living in Australia and had my license details updated with new address etc, I got tagged for an accident that I was involved in 9 years previously!! They never sleep!! (the feckers)

...and it's not like it's my fault that the guy in front of me runs into the back of another guy and stops dead in the road, causing me to rear-end him, is it????
