So about a week ago i was cruising up north for the weekend and luckily for me when the red and blue lights lit up my side mirrors i pulled over and discovered my clutch was gone (fine + repair, double wammy!). long story short the small piece of metal holding the clutch cable to the clutch release mechansim behind the front sprocket cover had snapped. easy enough to replace with a part i found online.

Now the problem is once i got the bike back and into one piece (with a substantially cleaner front sprocket cover!!) the battery was too low to start her up so i attempted to push start in 1st (as i had done to get back to auckland without a clutch) but what followed wasn't a desired result, there was a sharp pitched grinding noise and and the bike didnt want to turn over. that and all of a sudden i got a whole lot more tension on the clutch cable.

with my limited knowledge im thinking a sticky clutch or something (hoping as would be cheaper than gearbox issues)

Any help would be awesome! cheers

1. Can you find neutral .. ??? (without using the clutch)

2. Can you pull the clutch lever in .. ??? (and what happens when you do ??)

3. Did you use the clutch lever before you started pushing .. ???

4. With the clutch lever released ... could you push it in gear .. ???

5. After pulling the clutch lever in ... can it be pushed .. ???

Push starts usually work well in 2nd or 3rd gear. 1st can be brutal on the bike AND pusher ...

But it does sound more clutch issue than gearbox.

That clutch issue is a problem on those Bandits. It's typical old Suzuki build quality. A mate of mine had the same issue with his and I was shocked when I saw how light and flimsy that piece of metal is. Not much bigger than a paper clip.

start with fj.
Rock it back an fro to kick it out of gear, if it then rolls, you mayve seized the cunt.

If not, try and kick it through fifth, jack up the ass and try turning the rear by hand.

Or you may have fucked it putting it im. Side cover off and repeat.

Cheers For the help,

Update is that i got the battery charged up and back in, found neutral and started her up.
When I pull the clutch in there was a loud rattling (figured the push rod, sounded like it was coming from there) so i loosened the clutch at the adjuster and hey presto no more rattle (also no clutch) when i click it into 1st or 2nd it just rolls no engagement.
