Ready to restore

Rego is on hold so no worries there. Has been in storage for 12 years, motor turned over occasionally to keep things moving. I bought it to restore but havn't done so yet. I commuted to work on it for one year and it went great. Needs RH exhaust repair, tank repair and paint, side cover badges, cover on fuel tank and at some stage will need 4th and 5th gear looked at as whines a bit in those gears. Common for T500 and GT500's.

I had two of these when I was a lad of 16.

My second bike after the BSA B31 was a '73 T500 and I was 16 then too. But that was in '74...:bye:

Its funny how many bikes have their reputation restored before their bodies... Classic example is an iron Engine sportster. Yes you can make them into an acceptable classic now but back in the day they were effectively less reliable than a triumph twin. A few years back you could't give one away and not they are getting pricey and people want original looking ones again...

The 'Titan' was a bike that me and my mates always thought of as being as tough as old boots but generally pretty horrible to ride. My flatmates one seemed to fit this description in that you really couldnt kill it but because it handled and braked like a 3 legged pig on rollerskate day at the ice rink you were hardly ever tempted to try. Worthy but hardly an object of desire like say a good RD350.

Now they are a sought after classic....

Mind you, decent tyres and better rear shocks would have gone a long way in sorting out a lot of bikes of that era..

My brother had a Titan and it handled really well, brakes were ok too, maybe yours was a lemon. In my opinion (other than GP bikes) the best bike Suzuki ever produced

The Jap bikes of the period had crap tyres, crap suspension and crap handling - after my 1951 B31 I got a Triton, a long way from a Titan in handling. I didn't worry about the reliability, at the time I would've pulled the Titan apart as much as the Triton anyway.
