MR MC rides in this area are awesome fun, nothing to hard unless it gets really wet which is unlikely this weekend, you will have a blast,

Was talking about this ride on email with my old ride buddy last night (he's now in oz), he loved it. I can't make it, due to the 2 1/2 week old daughter I have lying on the sofa next to me, but I will be going to the Waikaretu ride (that is the best I've ever done!).
Mentioning that ride early, because if you can make it, you need to do it!

not everyone loves the beach run, but I agree with you, its the best day you can spend on a dirt bike,

I'll be going to this one, It'll be my first organized ride. I'd go this weekend but my mate is over from OZ and I don't have a spare bike for him:weep:

I assume the beach ride section is a bit off-putting for some, due to the free-for-all it turns into. Many people, like myself, miss being able to play on beaches, so we tend to make the most of it by dicking about, doing big power slides, big (or in my case, small) wheelies. When the tide is out, there's a large, wide section of firm sand to play on, but with the number of riders, it gets a bit busy. If it's a problem though, a quick squirt up the beach to the exit and you're away.
There's a monster dune to climb up as well, with the terrain around it being something you'd more expect to see on Mars, not to forget some of the most incredible views out over the west coast. At one point the guy I was riding with had to stop just to get off his bike and enjoy the surroundings, he's from Hungary and was having a bit of a "I'm so lucky to be living in this country" moment.
It's a fantastic ride, not just for the riding.

I went, I didnt crash and I loved it.
Will do it again. Easier than I thought. I doubt its me getting better. Need practice on rooty sections. And standing on climbs...
Happy times.

It was a good ride, I would have loved to have had some rain... I prefer tricky rides as I don't ride the pace I used to (can't risk injury ATM,My business relies on me being 100%) so I took it pretty easy... most of the time :P
I aided my Daughter on 5 laps of the family loop and she loved that track. I would loved to have spent more time on the main loop but as she cant start the 250 I needed to shadow her :)

My forks beat the crap out of me on the fast open bits where cows had been. Need to get my forks swapped out before the next ride.
