View Full Version : Windproof shirts

I've been looking for windproof undershirts for ages. Got a Gore ladies shirt and a Berik shirt. Both are not too bad, but both have the problem that they are only windproof at the front, front of sleeves, etc, which is not enough, and cold air seems get around it somehow especially coming through the fabrik bits in the sleeves of my leather jackets.

So far I couldn't find anything online that is fully windproof. Even the Rukka gear seems to be only windproof in certain zones.

Something in a female cut would be best, but chances are pretty slim, so any fully windproof shirts would do the trick.

This is what I use on really wet days because my textile gear isn't totally waterproof: http://www.oringi.co.nz/Products/Leisure-Mountain-Wear/Gisborne-All-Purpose-Shirt.aspx. I wear it under the textile jacketand nothing gets through although it's breathable. Not exactly high fashion but it delivers the goods. A mate wears one on the outside of his leathers with matching pants and swears by them.

Nice to support a NZ company too.

I've got good waterproof gear, so that is not the problem, but I'm looking for something like Skins, just windproof, to wear under my leathers.

It's windproof too. I do a fair bit of commuting from Coromandel to Auckland in the winter and being windproof is it's greatest benefit.

The key to windproof ... is layers ... and lots of them. Sadly though ... in the female mind ... this makes them look fat. Apparently ... this is bad. (Although fat in itself ... is an excellent wind proofing material)

It also seems ... for the very same reason ... less/thinner clothing is better.

If you are looking for undershirts in a "female" cut ... why ... are you planning on showing it of as you ride .. ???

The best argument against motorcycling ... is that it is an expensive way to sit in a draft ...

Minimization is possible. Eradication is all but impossible ...

Lol, I do stop every now and then and I like to wear those not only when riding.

We're not talking about winter riding here, by the way, but unfortunately I get cold easily, even when riding on a warm-ish summer day.

two or three thermal skins should have you cooking.
Polypro is aiight good and cheap, but if you want hard nipples (not from the cold) try merino. I think mynes icebreaker. Also have a couple old singlets. Fuck knows what theyre made out of but theyre warm as shit. Cotton polypro probably.

As the Aszole suggested ... do the rounds of the sports shops ... specials to be had at this time of year ...

Camo gear is good to hide or look cool. Not feminine much though ... (unless you're butch like Aszole)

I have one of these, there is almost nothing to them, they are made of the same material as the outer cover of sleeping bags. They are recommended for use under perforated leather jackets in the event that the temperature drops. They also make the jacket easier to slip on and off.

While there is very little to them, they ain't cheap.

That's GBP. Closer to $NZ40. Then you have to add freight.

Think about this for a moment

There is plenty of well documented examples of Female chests on the Internet

You are going to risk the potential eternal brain scarring image of seeing my Fat Hairy Moobs in order to get a look at the OP's tits.

I personally wouldn't risk it...

and I look at my chest everyday

Start off with a one piece bike specific undersuit, I use a Revit one myself under my leathers. Add one or two Icebreaker merino layers as required, depending on the ambient of the day. Then I use a bikers' balaclava with the windproof front section to stop wind getting into the suit around the neck, and I admit to wearing this even on warm or hot days. Only in winter do I have to resort to adding either a thermal t-shirt or singlet to keep my temperature in the comfy range.

Yeah I tried the windproof front suits, don't work too well and they don't breathe very well so they quickly feel uncomfy, to me anyway.

As mentioned by others, layering with natural fibres is the key.
