International Female Ride Day [Archive]

Yes it is happening in the Upper North Island and we will be the first in the world to ride the 3rd May 2014.

Meet is at Caltex Bombay at 10am for a ride to the Okoroire Hotel. Details of the route will be released closer to the date. Lets make this a big one :scooter:

and ask most on here...guy or girl!...most find it odd that these groups seem to go out of there way to segregate themselves from the rest of the riding community, and...sorry to say, my personal experiance has been that most who attend such "sexist" events don't do it for the love of bikes...they seem to do it mostly for the attention!

so, sorry if my comments offend Grashopper(not my intention)...but events "for girls only" do slightly offend some of us who like & support "actual" equality for all who ride.

Goodness me. This was never meant to make anyone feel we are being sexist. It is about a bunch of ladies getting together for a ride because we can and has nothing to do with craving attention or seeking segregation. What a strange mindset.

There are "Suzuki Only" ride days at Hampton Downs. I guess you are offended by that also? Then there are the "Cruiser Only" training days put on by Pro Rider. I guess you are offended by that also?

If you want to do a "Blokes" only ride. Go for it. I for one wouldn't really give a toss. Good luck with organising it.

Can anyone join this day? Is there a limit on how good you need to be? I'm quite new to riding and would love to meet other girls that ride however I would hate to hold people up since I'm so new to all this though :innocent:

My experience of riding with other women is that they tend to be more aware of the "group" thing, watch out for each other, and are less inclined to take off leaving others "in the dust".

All lady riders are welcome as long as you can do the legal speed limit you will not be holding anyone up. We will be ensuring that newer riders are looked after.

Only a week away now ladies.

Be at Caltex Bombay at 9.30 with the aim to leave at 10am. The ride will be awesome and we will look after any new riders or riders new to riding in a group.

Ah, don't be scared Ducky. Was a tremendous ride over 90 bikes counted by yours truly at the Matamata turn off.
Enjoyed the day, no worries all ladies present and accounted for.
A credit to the 9 other marshals riding today.
Pretty sure that no one got lost, broke down or didn't make it to the Okoroire Hotel.

Happy to ride shotgun for you and the girls any old time, some cruel, mere male, suggested that marshaling a ladies only ride would be like "herding cats", could not have been further from the truth.
Everyone, new riders, experienced riders and still learning but OK riders all gave each other plenty of room and no one went any quicker than they were comfortable with, all in all a breeze to Marshall and genuinely happy to do it again.
Well done MD.Dawn and co, and of course ladies.

I think the Oko staff are too...they all looked rather frazzled by the time I got there!!

I had the intention of getting up early and meeting you up in Aucks...but my bed wouldn't let me go. I turned up later to find the Oko car park in this state...
