View Full Version : Should I sell my ER6?

Hi Guys,

I have been offered an R6 in need of repair at a good price (Higher HP and NM) but don't know if I would get the amount I want for my ER6 if I sold it so just wanted some views/thoughts.

My ER6N is a 2013 model it has been serviced every 6000km it has 34,000 km on the clock and ticking as I do trackdays commute to work and weekend poker runs.

The bike has all original parts available apart from levers so I have stock exhaust and grab handles if wanted if not I will sell them.

Bike has:
-A two brothers full system installed
-A two brothers Juice Box Pro with map istalled
-Replaced valve stems on tyres with red anodised ally ones 90 degree bend much better then stock ones
-Got race pin bobbins on swingarm easier to tighten chain work on bike etc
-Fully adjustable cnc machined brake and clutch levers
-Barnett hardened clutch springs
-Took away the grills on air intakes to let in more air to the filter
-New chain and set of Pirelli Angel GT tyres
-EBC Double H sintered pads
-Smaller front sprocket for trackdays and original for the rest of the time
-Slightly reworked intake and ofcourse
-Removed the grab bars as I don't use them and there heavy 2-3kg.

Bike was also originally LAMS so have all the gear to return to LAMS condition if need be.

Would I be fair in asking 12k for it with the work ive done? Or would this be to high and I should keep it keep modyfying it and ride it till it dies after couple 100,000k's ? Or what price do you think it would be worth?

Your mods really only make it more likely for a buyer to take your bike rather than the standard one next to it at the same price. I don't think you'd get close to 12k for it, especially when a brand spanker is only $2k more from the dealer (with ABS too!):

Keep it, buy the R6, fix it up, flick the R6, spend profit on ER6.

Your mods really only make it more likely for a buyer to take your bike rather than the standard one next to it at the same price. I don't think you'd get close to 12k for it, especially when a brand spanker is only $2k more from the dealer (with ABS too!):

Mine is ABS also and trust me I've seen the posts on trademe but hey its not a popular model in NZ so that's there get rid of prices not really indicative value of each individual bike for them it's a numbers game

Keep it, buy the R6, fix it up, flick the R6, spend profit on ER6.

Would be a good plan if I had the spare disposable income for the r6

From the looks of the thread so far though I'll probably just keep her and eventually buy another bigger bike and retire the er6 to work duty only.

IMHO 12K is way to high. The mods you have put on does not really increase the value, maybe even the opposite. Stock bikes are easier to sell and hold their value better. All according to my experience. I paid $6000 for a slightly older ER6, brand new condition.

Adding mods to the bike hardly adds any value to the bike, just as a bike with a full tank isn't worth $30 more.

Selling a 600 to upgrade to another 600? You make no sense to me eahhhh.
Keep your current bike. Your attached to it now.

I will still beat you down the strip no matter what you get (even if I am sliding on my side)

Honestly tho, why would you want to sell a perfectly good customised ER6 to buy a dinged up R6 to spend more money on it to make it look good again? Do you enjoy bike projects?

For 12k I think you're dreaming. I bought my wife an ER6f with fancy exhaust and heated grips, 6000kms for $7500.

Yeah I'm just gonna keep it as a lesson learned. The next one I get will be a nice litre bike attached to the mortgage lol also reibz I had you for at least the first quarter of the strip when I do get a litre bike I demand a rematch :-P

I'da thunk dragging a Hyabusa with a litre bike is likely to give a similar result to the last time.

Nah even the er6 was better off the line busas are all top end something like a s1000rr would waste a busa I recon quicker off the line lighter and with the anti wheelie could keep it all on the tarmac
