1990 NX Dominator,,Checkin front sprocket, found the retainer has a bolthole broken off. Countershaft has a very fine 13 spline, not like I've seen before.
Agent didn't have anything to suit, and is gonna try to find a match. Anyone suggest what fits and where to find one??
Cheers,
Muzz.

Plenty of Honda partsfiches online (sorry on mobile right now) so you can look up your model and get the oem part number. On some sites you can see what other models take the same part. Normally just the oem part no is enough for a shop to order on.

hey Muzz have a look at the 93-2000 XR600r.... 13 tooth spline, mines the 93 with a 13 spline, maybe a PO put an XR counter shaft in.
if it is then the Honda shops can get em in, i got one not that long ago was $23

Looks like the front sprok isnt the correct one. The original has rubber dampeners(?) and offset bolt holes, but the one on the bike is solid, with aligned holes. To fit the original retainer was on the non-original sprocket the holes were drilled out, leaving sod-all holding it.
So I guess what I need to know is what retainer fits the 13 spline, but has aligned bolt-holes?
Thanks for the help,, I'm effing useless at trackin part-numbers etc!
Muzz.

If it's the type that has the retaining plate with 2 bolts...
toss the retaining plate & put a heavy circlip in the groove...
i have done it on a few smaller honda's..

Well, its an option!
bought an XR500 years ago off a cockie,, had fencing wire in the groove with about 40mm of twisted wire out the side, no sprok cover!
Cockie said it'd shredded two gumboots, but never got around to fixing it tho........

chuck a oem sprocket back on, that aftermarket one could be a harder steel and hammer the shaft splines

Ended up having to buy a new front sprok (to replace the already new front sprok!) and matching retainer.
Been bustin-a-gut to go fer a ride.
Cheers,
Muzz
