We've heard about the QL anti-anyonewithabike&/friends law & while possibly a threat, even the Aussies say QL has more screws loose than one could count;
However Victoria has just gone & made illegal the peoples right to protest... 600$ fine if you speak out against injustice & corruption now (as of 0100 12/3/14 I believe)

How long until NZ Govt decides this is another "good legislation" to copy off Victoria???
They've already gone & made sea drilling protests illegally illegal & this would just allow them more power to suppress the opposition while selling us off to their American & Chinese friends

It's exactly why this country needs to become a dictatorship with me in charge.

Actually no, they didn't make sea drilling protests illegal - they removed our right to public consultation.

But I agree with the sentiment of your message.

I see too the riot squad was called in when the people in the viewing gallery did some "relatively subdued clapping when one of the ALP speakers talked about workers rights.", course this was reported in corporate media as these people having "stormed the gallery", something I believe to be extremely easy to do, u know it being parliament & all /s :facepalm:

Quashing the right to protest...? Victoria must be slipping over on their loose screws...

Having lived in QL I know what a police state looks like, maybe Vic is going the same way? It's open season with Abbott in National gubberment.

My vote is with Smokey.

While the laws exist , they wernt used when the greenies broke the 500m exclusion zone around Anadarko's boat.
Protesting isnt illegal, not sure what all the fuss is about.
Not a lot different than taking a trespass notice out on somebody you don't want in your face.

I thought we were better at following Vics lead not QLs

While the laws exist , they wernt used when the greenies broke the 500m exclusion zone around Anadarko's boat. The fact they weren't used in this case, doesn't mean they won't be used in the future. Once a law is on the books, it's only a matter of time before some arsehole decides to use it.
Protesting isnt illegal, not sure what all the fuss is about. In this case, protesting IS illegal.
