They sure are getting, errr, creative with the NC mechanicals. Wonder if it's for real.

Trust me - you'd not want to be caught in that crouched position on that HONDA

Well i guess it would make sense in 2014 Tokyo, not sure about sales anywhere else.

I agree, that's a beautiful bike that a motorcyclist would buy. The idea here presumably is to appeal to other people (specifically manga/sci-fi geeks in this case, apparently). Combine it with one of these http://shark-helmets.com/product.php?sous_gamme=SHARK%20Raw&gamme=SHARK%20Metro%20Division&code_gamme=METRO&code_sous_gamme=RAW and no one can see your zits.

Isn't that the only way to get new customers? Seems that's what they've built the modular platform for...you never know, it might work.

You want Sci-Fi appeal? The modern iteration of the CB1100R above has a Cyberman face. The other thing is shit.

Hey it does too! Probably will try to kill you as well, might get to meet 'Doctor who?' in person heh groan.
Maybe a Tardis-themed version is next.

Yes

Retro sci-fi is shit too.
Still, the CB does look like more of a rider's bike.

I like it. Proportions/balance kinda make me think 'Japanese Chopper'.
On the other hand I would never own one unless it was given to me, and even then I'd probably need another 20 years on me before something like that is fun.
That CB1100R on the other hand....:drool::drool:

+1
Could be a JDM only model; it's not too different from some of the big scooters that are popular over there. Bit embarrassing anywhere else though.

Honda have made some of the prettiest bikes ever, I just don't believe some of the crap they are offering now. The DN-01 failed so they bring out this rubbish.
Compare that to the Yamaha MT-09 or MT-07 - what a fail. Somebody high up the Honda food chain needs to fall on their sword, or be pushed.

I read a bit of the history on the NSR500 last night, and to be honest it seems like they've been slow learners for quite some time :p

So a 750cc twin automatic scooter-bike is a penis extension, but a 1000cc sportsbike isn't?

I went for a walk yesterday. The (re)Vultus makes an Aprilia SRV850 look fucking sexy.

As an aside, IF this bike came mated to a 200bhp 1200cc V4 would that change your opinions?? :corn:

Aprilia don't make a 1200cc V4.

Well be more precise then. And no. I wouldn't buy the Honda if it had a 1200cc V4. If it did it would be characterless and mated to a weird transmission.

I'm not against the NM4. shame about the top heavy one, would look better with the concept's screen.
a red one with Akira inspired decals, like the "Canon", "arai", "shoei" and stuff would look pretty sweet.
I'd have one.
If I lived in Japan for sure.
The Accountants at Honda are clearly in command.
This bike is the result of applying the rarely known or talked about Accounting formula of reversed engineering known as the Cost Reduction Accounting Principle. CRAP for short. The principle being design a product so ugly it wont sell and therefore generating massive savings in long term production costs. Clever buggers really.
