How's it go mister?

We have a DT 230 Lanza in the fold which I adore and may, may, have a CRM 250 by years end. Not sure how to get it registered, import stuff ect.

The DT is hilarious on gravel & roads which are too complicated to get over 100kmh.

Oh, congrats. I love the smell of TTS in the morning.

Showing my age here a bit but have ridden a street legal PE400 and from that experience would suggest you take your rear number plate and fit it on the 250

400 ride impression, power and vibration were immense not helped at all by the to low gearing, she peaked out at about 90mph in a few moments and was throwing its wheel up in the air in ever gear (having said that my riding style in those days may have been a tad aggressive)

Possibly still one of the meanest road rides I can remember :sweatdrop

Very good thanks sir,

Certainly have a smile on my face after my last Ride on the RMX (250),:wings: I got a bit to do to her to fit me but did a short metal road sorty and with the bald skinny economy tire it had on, she was wheelspin city and slew itself sideways with anything more than a wiff of throttle on the loose stuff (have a bigger 606 on its way to try sort some of that)

I have to say I understand the hilarious thing but at the moment its mixed with a bit of fear, she aint no roll it on 4 stroke:facepalm:

looking forward to getting her fully sorted and seeing what she can really do :headbang:

Heard some good things about those bike's and they are probable the sensible choice's as am not sure if I've bitten off more than I can chew here, and its tantalising for me knowing I can wheelie easy in the first three gears without using the clutch

Awesome bike!
I was oh so tempted to buy my brother's rmx.
But as i am a broke ass uni student who relies on my bike every day now, i took the sensible route by choosing a dr650

The wee DT is very civilised, no big hit. The power is relatively linear from idle, strong from bottom through the mid range. It's easy to wheelie, lean back, add throttle. Get the weight, throttle & grip more exuberant than expected & the wee thing will snap up real quick.
My rear tire is munted but to be honest even with a MX tire, sideways on gravel is just in the wrist. I tend to blip my way through corners & hang it out a little on exit.
The CRM with standard pipe is similar, loads of torque from the bottom through the mid range. With the race pipe it's more old school, you have to keep the revs up & hang on when it comes on the pipe. I prefer the stocker.
A pic of the DT & it's covetous rider & a couple of my "maybe" CRM.

I see that bloke is posting pics of the TDR I want, too. Love it.

To be honest a wise choice for you needs, the RMX is a cantankerous thing around town<_<, but makes up for it in spades once let loose elsewhere :wings:

Very nice and a great ride description, CRM is choice (maybe yours?)

will give another ride description on RMX once I get a new tire on, am also thinking about firming up forks to keep more weight reward when braking as at the moment you have to let the front brake off if pulled to hard as rear tries to come around, ok on the road but limiting in the gravel. I need to be able to slow down fast as the girl can get away on you if your not careful

I use the back brake a lot on gravel, to temper the throttle through & out of a corner, brake & throttle together & to keep the bike level when braking for a corner. Both brakes. As you say with the softer forks the front loads up & they get light at the back, does it it on tar seal, too. Combined braking works really well.

Yes it is apparent from the rides so far that I may need to modify my riding style a little and am already noticing the lack of engine braking, in fact she actually overruns a bit on a chopped throttle even when you change down, I think the RMX tune is a touch wild in these low drag road type situations, partly the reason I think I am noticing the braking issues so much :eek5:

Can adjust power valve and maybe jetting to see if that improves things, otherwise I'll just hang on and run it in deep :woohoo:

Nice try but I'm thinking the Doctor still has some use, like say Travelling half way to Hamilton before we even get to some metal.

Went for 100km blast tonight, RMX is a bit better since new front tire fitted (Kenda big block off KTM) plus rim lock removed and balanced, will hold 110kph ok but is now shaking a bit from the rear after that, most likely the rear rim lock and a total lack of any sort of weight to hold it down, O and the fact the seat is trying to cut me in half.

Getting there though and it will be a toss up between DR and RMX if I do head Hamilton way this weekend,a slower more gruelling one on the road if I take the 2smoke option (though quite thrilling once I get there)

Do I go for comfort or fun at a all cost

My mate has one sat in the shed. Good nick'ish. Runs well but the front tire is knackered & the spindle is seized so he can't get the wheel off. He's a bit slow on replacing it. Sadly.
Bit of a weapon apparently & from what he has told me I don't know why the front wheel is such a big deal.

The only hope I see for the 400 is gearing it to the moon, rubber mounting everything that connects to your body and super balancing the wheels and adding 606 tires, PS, decompressing it to mellow it out and making pipe real quiet

That's all
