Following the Ambulance Ride, a group of Wgtn Ulyssians and Capital Coast Coneheads will be competing in the Grand Ginny Challenge. (A gymkhana event on GN125’s commencing approximately 1:30pm)
This event came about because a certain Long John Silver (JohnM) had a lot to say about the worthiness of the other JohnM’s win at the last Ulysses Gymkhana. The aim of this event is to sort the men from the boys and send Long John Silver off to cry in his beer/milk.
After the Sausage Sizzle in Thorndon, feel free to roll along to the Riverbank carpark (North End) to watch the spectacle and there will be some basic layouts for riders to ‘have a go’.
The GN’s will not be available for use, but the point of this type of riding is to help improve your handling skills and confidence on your own machine and there will be Ulysses Rider Mentors and other Coneheads there to offer assistance and advice if required. After the event, the competition course will also be ‘loosened-up’ and available to have a go on your own bike and some of the competitors will hopefully demo that it is possible on bikes bigger than a GN…but unfortunately, we have no Donny Williams amongst us!!.....or will we see one emerge?
For those that are interested in this stuff, the Capital Coast Coneheads have a facebook page and have been meeting on Wednesday nights at the Dressmart Carpark. This ends with daylight savings but no doubt there will be some weekend sessions throughout winter, before picking up again next spring.
