Open collared jackets

I'm looking at a couple of bike jackets which have 'open' necks and just wanting to hear from anyone who has/had one of these. How do you find them for open road riding? Do you have to wear a snugg or scarf?

I use a couple of different jackets with this type of neck, find them ok, only use in summer mind no need for scarf etc.......much easier to turn head to look over shoulder etc....

Yeah I got a big beetle to the throat once when riding with collar open on my current jacket and that woke me up quick smart. Hence current concerns - also how cold it is.
